showed us two things: digitisation is more than just Industry 4.0. 2020 It helps companies and the whole of society to overcome crises by making new decentralised working models possible. The corona pandemic brought YOUR DIRECT CONNECTION that home to us very clearly. This effect will persist and open up new possibilities for digitisation. The tempo of this process of digital change is going to keep accelerating. One of these trends is the expansion of metropolises into their rural surroundings in order to be able to regulate their infrastructural problems and their unchecked influx. There is a close connection between this and digitisation. Together these form the framework of our regional development. And this framework is conve- nient – everything which has a future can settle in it – from bioeconomies to creative businesses – and this is the only way that existing companies can also grow. Our 2020 annual balance sheet will show you a small selection of what the District of Vorpommern-Greifswald can represent. The VG.2050 strategy we developed together with the ARUP Foresight think-tank hints at what we could achieve if we concentrate on the key objectives and resolutely stay ahead of the game. Located between the cosmopolitan city of Berlin, the Polish metropolis of and the Baltic The corona pandemic plunged us into a crisis, at the same time opening up a wide range of new opportunities. Let’s use them! Sea, the district offers long-term and exciting development potential.

posed a challenge to us and we passed the stress test. Using our fully 2020 digitised processes, we were able to seamlessly continue working on our projects from home and acquire new ones. In the middle of the first wave of the corona pandemic, when the consultancy requirements of our regional companies were especially high, we helped develop the RettungsRing MV [LifeLine] online platform and thus provid ed advice to hundreds of companies directly.

Networking, services and new projects in 2020: 1. We have supported numerous company relocation projects both within and from abroad and built up close relationships, with Polish companies in particular, which have already led to concrete company relocation projects. Others are under discussion. 2. INNOTEC, the Innovation and Offensive which we initiated in 2019 together with ATI Küste GmbH, has become an intelligent and effective driver for the SME sector: 27 partners, 44 projects and a € 4.8 million transaction vol ume speak for themselves. 3. The training programme which we set up with Invest in MV for the real estate offices and building authorities of local authorities and administrative bodies now enables them to independently update the Invest Guide portal with all information about sur face areas, availability etc. It’s an essential requirement for our effective consultation and flawless service for investors. 4. Some creative businesses are intentionally leaving Berlin. We provide them with a goal and directions and help with relocation and business expansion. This is a trend which is going to grow. 5. The so-called soft factors have long been part of the hard facts of business relocation. With this in mind, we, along with the city of Pasewalk and partners, intend to develop the southern region of the Vorpommern-Greifswald Administrative District into a Centre of Education with a European focus. Being alert and open to changes and interesting partners – that’s what enabled us to continue growing even in 2020. 2020 PROJECTS (A SELECTION)
