The new investment grant period runs from the years 2014 – 2020. The investment grant is comprised of a base rate (5 percentage points below the highest grant rate) and, should the conditions be fulfilled, additional bonus payments. The bonus payments inter alia contain the following criteria: Manufacturing industry, site competition, high R&D potential, business establishment in a structurally-weak region, particular efforts in environmental management, special efforts in the compatibility of job and family. The highest grant rates shall apply for grant applications that are approved prior to the end of 2017. As of the start of 2018, the maximum grant rates shall be reduced by 5% in non-border regions.
