On the left is- CAIRN HILL A Victorian house built c. 1860, home of OUR WALK STARTS Sealy Lett, Wine Merchant. In 1950s and 60s, this house was occupied by the notorious Paul AT 2 Singer, who launched Shanahan’s Stamp Auctions, in which many small investors lost their CHURCH AT THE life’s savings, resulting in long court cases. It is now a Nursing Home. TOP OF KILL LANE 3 KILTERAGH PINES Built c. 1905 for Sir Horace Plunkett, Politician. Best known for his work for the Agricultural Co-Operative Movement in Ireland. He entertained politicians and literary people at Kilteragh, including Michael Collins, G.B. Shaw, Lady Gregory etc. In 1923, during the Civil War, his home was burnt and destroyed. The house was reconstructed and set in maisonettes. Sir Horace Plunkett died in England in 1931.
