Topping out ceremony for Husum Shopping Center in Northern with 400 guests and former Minister President Peter Harry Carstensen

 Opening of Husum Shopping Center centre is planned in September 2019  Structural work will be completed by Christmas

Hamburg/Husum, 7 December 2018. Together with Peter Harry Carstensen and approximately 400 guests, the topping out ceremony of Husum shopping centre was celebrated in the old town of Husum yesterday. The structural work is largely concluded and interior construction has started. The new Husum Shopping Center centre is expected to open in September 2019. The centre will have around 12,000 square metres of rental space and a central inner-city car park with 650 parking spaces.

Peter Cohrs, investor of Husum Shopping Center, said: “I would like to thank our many guests from Husum and the region, who came to the topping out ceremony despite bad weather. This tells us that the project was well received and people are looking forward to the new shopping centre. With the completion of the structural work, the biggest adverse effect on the residents is past. In October, the work for the car park on the roof began. We will soon start redeveloping the neighbouring squares at Quickmarkt and Schlossstrasse.” Cohrs adds: “Husum Shopping Center will further expand Husum's reputation as a town with an outstanding shopping experience in Schleswig-Holstein. With its opening in September 2019, the birthplace of German writer Theodor Storm will offer a unique blend of retail, dining, service and charm and atmosphere in particular. Husum is our passion.”

1 Peter Harry Carstensen, who was Minister President of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein between 2005 and 2012 and comes from Nordstrand near Husum in the district, said: “Husum has always been and still is a welcoming city for a pleasant shopping experience, not just for the North Frisia region, but far into Schleswig-Holstein. Husum is impressive with its unique blend of town, culture and history, harbour and Theodor Storm, weekly market and CJ Schmidt. And this experience is now being enhanced by the new shopping centre, the shopping hot spot by the Wadden Sea.”

Martin Mörl, Managing Director of the project developer and future operator Prelios Immobilien Management, explains: “Good progress is being made in letting, we have already let about two-thirds of the space in Husum Shopping Center. The demand is high due to the excellent location opposite CJ Schmidt, the high centrality score of 222, the rising number of tourists and the attractive centre concept. Husum town centre currently still has gaps in its offering, which we will close with well-known brands such as H&M, EDEKA, dm, Parfümerie Schuback, Esprit and Schuhpark Fascies. With already four gastronomic concepts - Eiscafé Giovanni L., Asian and Indian specialities as well as waffle bakers - the culinary offer is diverse, whereby we intend to accommodate even more culinary concepts. We are looking for expert regional operators, creative individual suppliers and chains for retail, services and gastronomy, which will fit in well in northern Germany.”

Tenants in the Husum shopping centre with approximately 12,000 square meters of rental space, approximately 650 parking spaces and around 35 shops will include H&M, EDEKA, dm, Esprit, Vero Moda, Only, the shoe shops Ecco and Schuhpark Fascies, Bijou Brigitte, Parfümerie Schubac, Beauty & More, Vodafone and Parkgemeinschaft Husum. The range of culinary offerings will be supplemented by TANDO, Street Kitchen, Giovanni L and Waffelgut.
