NORTHEAST CONFERENCE FANS:

Welcome to the 2019 Northeast Conference Women’s Swimming Championships!

The Conference and Nassau County Aquatic Center hope to make this event a memorable experience for student-athletes and fans alike. NEC swimming and diving student-athletes have worked extremely hard throughout the winter to peak for today’s meet. We anticipate competitive and exciting races, and look forward to crowning the 2019 champion.

Consisting of 10 institutions of higher learning located throughout six states, the NEC is committed to providing opportunities for student-athletes to achieve their fullest potential both in athletic competition and in the classroom, as well as becoming an NCAA Division I leader for athletic success, academic achievement and integrity, sportsmanship, equity and diversity, community partnership and national engagement. NEC member institutions include Bryant, Central Connecticut, Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU Brooklyn, Mount St. Mary’s, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn, Saint Francis U and Wagner. Merrimack will join the NEC as a full-time member in July, 2019.

NEC institutions span a number of diverse locations, from the urban bustle of the New York metro area, to the rural settings of Loretto, PA and Emmitsburg, MD, to suburban New England. But when it comes to intercollegiate athletics, the goal of the NEC is consistent - to provide its members the opportunity to participate in quality competition at the Division I level while operating programs that are fully integrated in the academic mission of each institution.

The NEC’s commitment to academic excellence has translated into national recognition for both individual student-athletes and the league’s member institutions as a whole. NEC student-athletes consistently graduate at well above the national average and its athletic programs continue to be honored for their Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Academic Progress Rate (APR) figures. On a conference-wide level, the NEC’s 4,000+ student-athletes averaged a record-high 3.281 GPA for the 2017-18 academic year and 82% of NEC teams finished the year with at least a 3.0 GPA. Over 2,400+ student-athletes were named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll in 2017-18 and more than 700 were tabbed to the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll with GPAs of 3.75 or higher.

On the field of play, the NEC has enjoyed many successes both regionally and nationally, competing in 22 NCAA championships each year. In swimming, the NEC has produced a number of national caliber competitors over the years, as well as Academic All-Americans.

Attempting to revolutionize the way its fans follow and interact with their favorite teams, the Conference launched NEC Front Row in 2012. The state-of-the-art digital network offers free live and on-demand programming, as well as inside access to the NEC and its student-athletes on the field, in the classroom, across campus, and in the community. I encourage you to regularly check out the site on your computer or mobile device.

We are also bursting with #NECPride, a hashtag that we encourage fans to use in all forms of social media. #NECPride is about having pride in your team, your school and the will to succeed both on and off the field.
