Richard L. Conolly College is the hub of undergraduate education at LIU , providing a general education foundation for all majors in the professional schools and in-depth training in liberal arts and sciences disciplines for students preparing for specific careers. Conolly College offers dozens of undergraduate majors in four divisions: Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences and Communications, Visual and Performing Arts. The College also offers master’s degrees in the biological and social sciences, language and media arts and urban studies and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.

Services & Resources: K The Speech and Hearing and Audiology clinics provide educational opportunities for communication science students and therapeutic services for residents. K The Multi-Media Language Lab in the Library Learning Center serves students taking foreign languages and literature courses. K The Writing Center supports and develops student writing and reading and serves as a valuable resource for students, faculty and the entire LIU Brooklyn community. K LIU Brooklyn administers the prestigious George Polk Awards in Journalism annually through the Department of Journalism. K More than 40 state-of-the-art physics, biology and chemistry teaching and research labs, including 10 new che mistry labs, provide hands-on learning and research experience for students in a range of scientific disciplines. K The Institute for the Study of International Organizations sponsors a United Nations Graduate Studies Program and a Certificate Seminar for interns at the United Nations. K The College provides art galleries, fine arts studios, performance spaces and sophisticated media production and computer graphic labs.

The School of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences prepares students for professional careers in business, government and entrepreneurial ventures. Students are engaged and challenged by an internationally recognized faculty and taught in small classes. The School includes four departments and programs: the Department of Accounting, Taxation and Law, Department of Computer Science, Department of Managerial Sciences and Master of Public Administration Program.

K The Department of Accounting, Taxation and Law administers the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, offering free tax preparation to low-income and elderly Brooklyn residents. K The Center for Accounting and Taxation Education offers CPE-granting seminars, workshops and courses. K Students with non-business or non-accounting backgrounds may fulfill the educational requirements for CPA licensure in the M.S. in Accounting Program on a limited matriculation basis. K Computer science and human resource management courses are available in a blended learning format. K The Learning Community on Entrepreneurship facilitates academic achievement and excellence through exploration in entrepreneurship. The School of Education prepares teachers, counselors, administrators and school psychologists for the challenges and rewards of working in urban settings. The School’s innovative programs are designed to ensure that graduates keep pace with ever-evolving career opportunities in education and community organizations.

The School includes two departments: the Department of Teaching, Learning and Leadership and the Department of Counseling and School Psychology, with each offering a vast array of undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs.

The School includes depart - ments and divisions in respiratory care, physician assistant studies, occupational therapy, athletic training, health and exercise science, physical therapy, social work and public health. The programs within these divisions span the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels and lead to careers in growing professions that offer a wealth of career opportunities in the health care industry, the most rapidly growing sector in the United States today.

The School offers undergraduate degrees in health sciences, sports science, social work and respiratory care. Graduate degrees are offered in health sciences, advanced athletic training and sports sciences, physician assistant studies, social work and public health, with some dual-degree options and the Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Services & Resources: K Curricula focus on patient diagnosis, patient treatment and care, therapies for improved outcomes, illness and injury prevention, fitness and wellness, health of populations and communities and societal issues. The School of Nursing educates nurses to provide the highest quality of nursing care to diverse and complex populations across the country and around the world. The School offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The undergraduate baccalaureate program is offered through a variety of tracks, including the generic track that provides opportunities for students to obtain the B.S. degree through the evening/weekend part-time track; the full-time or part-time day track; and the second-degree accelerated 15-month track. The undergraduate program provides opportunities for registered nurses with associate degrees to obtain the B.S. degree through the R.N.-B.S. track and the R.N.-B.S./M.S. track.

The School offers master’s degrees and post-master’s certificates in the Executive Program for Nursing and Health Care Management, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator programs. The Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator and R.N.-B.S. tracks are offered in a blended format.

Established in 1886 as the of Pharmacy, LIU Pharmacy –the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is the original unit of LIU. In 2011 LIU Pharmacy celebrated 125 years of service to the state and the nation, having educated more than 20,000 professional and graduate students, including many leaders in pharmacy and other health professions.

Services & Resources: K The Office of Students and Professional Affairs offers advisement, academic support services and coordination of student activities to all students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. K The Office of Graduate Education provides academic advisement and other support services to students enrolled in the College’s graduate programs. Established over four decades ago as Friends World College and headquartered at LIU Brooklyn, LIU Global (formerly Global College) sets students on a four-year international pursuit of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to excel in a global society that is interdependent as never before. Students gain an internationa l experience while they earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in global studies. In additio n to the four-year undergraduate program, LIU Global offers students from other U.S. colleges and universities the chance to study abroad at any of the LIU Global centers for one semester or one academic year.

K Digital technology and online library training strengthen research and digital literacy skills. K One-on-one advising is provided on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, fostering critical thinking and strong analytical and writing skills. The School of Continuing Studies provides opportunities for adult, non-traditional and professional students to advance their careers and develop in mind, body and spirit. The School offers certificates and coursework in a wide array of fields and operates LIU’s Children’s Academy. Areas of study include surgical technology, central service technology, vascular technology, cardiac sonography, paralegal studies and building construction.

Services & Resources: K The Children’s Academy offers an immersive, educational experience for youngsters ages 3-12. The Academy’s Summer Camp gives children from across Brooklyn the chance to participate in courses ranging from robotics, movie making, fashion design, comic book creation, language immersion, ballet and urban dance. Courses are taught by LIU Brooklyn faculty members, with students serving as camp counselors. K Language and writing workshops. K Ceramics classes are offered year-round.
