Mark Jurzyk seminary in Mundelein, IL. This calls him to be a servant of the Living Word of God. In proclaiming the readings during the liturgy, the lector does more than simply read. Those who exercise the ministry of lector must be truly suited and carefully pre- pared so that the faithful may develop a warm and living love for Sacred Scripture from listening to the sacred readings. After the ceremony there was a special dinner for all seminarians, professors, parents and guests in the seminary’s cafeteria. I had an occasion to meet several members of the faculty of the seminary. I especially enjoyed a lengthy conversation with Fr. Emery De Gaal, a professor of dogmatic theology there as we were seated at the same table. He was born in Hungary and studied in Munich, Germa- ny. I was surprised that he visited Poland and pre- sented several lectures there. It convinced me that Brent is in good hands.

Contest entrants compete in one of three age groups—ages 5 through 7, ages 8 through 10, and 11 through 14.
