MAJOR REQUIREMENTS A. Requirements: - First- and second-year German (110, 220) or the equivalent q - German 311, or the equivalent q - Six German literature courses in German at the 300-400 level. German 311 will not be accepted as one of the six courses. At least four the the six courses must be taken at Reed. q q q q q q - At least one semester or summer institute in Germany q
B. Recommended: - Humanities 220 q - Additional courses in German or modern European history - Additional courses in German philosophy

DIVISIONAL REQUIREMENTS A. Requirements: One unit in the Division of the Arts q Two units in literature outside the major. English majors may satisfy this requirement with literature q courses in the original language or in translation. Ancient Mediterranean Studies majors may satisfy this q requirement with two units of 300-level literature in their second classical language. B. Recommendations: Humanities 220, or two units from Humanities 211, 212, 231, and 232 q A course in literary theory q CREDIT AND DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS
