Praying the Rosary The rosary is a powerful spiritual tool for meditation. And our choice. As Richard Foster notes, “in While meditation grows in popularity as a means to meditative prayer God is always addressing our will. better mental, physical, and spiritual health, many Christ confronts us and asks us to choose. Having people, including many Catholics, overlook the heard his voice . . . we are called to life-transforming rosary as a meditative tool. It is sometimes seen as obedience.” Meditation gives us the option to be too simple and therefore as superficial. The rosary is transformed. By focusing on the lives of Christ and Mary through meditation on the mysteries, we learn about ourselves in relation to God. Mary herself is an excellent model for the daily practice of meditation. From the Pastor

Planning for this summer is coming into greater clarity, and so I would like to offer a further update on what to expect in the coming weeks and months:

-Please continue your prayers for our young parishioners who received their First Communion this Sunday. Remember also those who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 16.

-Most of our faith formation classes concluded this past week, and we are already looking to the future. Initial planning has begun to hold a Vacation Bible School in August; watch for more details.

-I want to offer my sincere gratitude to all of our catechists and volunteers this year. COVID offered a few extra twists and turns, and all of our adults did a great of walking with the kids, no matter the circumstances.

-Please take some time this summer to pray about whether God is inviting you to serve as a catechist next year.

-My final day in the parish (for the summer) will be May 16, though I will be here for weekend Masses the first two weeks of June. Please welcome a priest from Catholic Cross Outreach Memorial Day weekend and priests from the seminary the other weeks.

-During my absence, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will not be scheduled. Please see times for neighboring parishes posted on the bulletin boards.

-I am still working out details on who to contact in case of emergency.

-Finally, our cluster will change significantly this summer as St. Anthony’s will merge into St. Rose, and Fr. Tom Melvin will become the new pastor of Immaculate Conception (Fr. Thompson will remain at St. Rose).
