On July 1, the Times published an article titled: "36 hours in Rockaway Beach.” The author profiled a number of fun and enriching things to see and do in our neighborhood. He recommended restaurants, shops, a museum, and even surf lessons that my mother would never approve of me trying. As I read, I kept thinking: we should be on that list!

I've been here at St. Rose for about two weeks now, and already I've experienced so much of what this parish has to offer to even the most casual visitor. Starting with the deep peace of our Chapel, open from 6am to 9pm every single day, St. Rose is a gem. The beauty of our church building, despite the visible water damage, is inspirational. Look closely at the mosaics in the sanctuary, or the stained glass--particularly the one behind the statue of St. Rose herself, a labor of love by a local artist. It is difficult to put into words the power of such beauty.

The beauty of our building doesn't compare to the people who pray and work here, for whom I am already grateful. It is for you and because of you that the building is here. It is for you and because of you that I am here. I promise to do my best to know and love more, so that together you and I can show the world Rockaway's greatest treasure: the parish we call St. Rose.

======1 lipca New York Times opublikowal artykul zatytulowany: “36 godzin w Rockaway Beach”. Autor opisal rozmaite rozrywki i ciekawe wydarzenia, ktorych mozna doswiadczyc w naszej okolicy.

Piekno naszego kosciola nie daje sie jednak porownac z ludzmi, ktorzy modla sie i pracuja w parafii i ktorym jestem juz gleboko wdzieczny. God Wants to be Known

Today's Old Testament reading from July 14 - July 21 Deuteronomy praises God for inscribing the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time...... commandments in our very bodies. God’s law is Deuteronomy 30:10-14; Colossians 1:15-20; Luke 10:25-37 not distant or foreign, but a natural part of us. In Monday...... Exodus 1:8-14, 22; Matthew 10:34--11:1 his letter to the Colossians, Saint Paul echoes Tuesday...... Exodus 2:1-15a; Matthew 11:20-24 , praising God for becoming one of us. The Wednesday...... Exodus 3:1-6, 9-12; Matthew 11:25-27 truly human, flesh-and-blood Jesus reminds us that Thursday...... Exodus 3:13-20; Matthew 11:28-30 God always wants to be recognizable and familiar Friday...... Exodus 11:10--12:14; Matthew 12:1-8 to us. Jesus, who is also truly God, wants to be on Saturday...... Exodus 12:37-42; Matthew 12:14-21 intimate terms with each of us. 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time...... God’s passionate desire to be known by us is Genesis 18:1-10a; Colossians 1:24-28; Luke 10:38-42 almost too wonderful to take in. Luke’s Gospel Prayerfully Reflect on the Mass Readings helps us understand how to respond.
