There is much to do in St. Andrews but if you fancy a change of scenery, we would encourage you to explore the East Neuk of Fife (Crail, Anstruther and Pittenweem), go shopping in Dundee, see the sights of Edinburgh, or get wet in Glasgow!

St. Andrews has a great transport network and so everywhere is reachable either by bus and train.

leuchars train station

Leuchars Train Station is situated approximately 6 miles from St. Andrews and is the closest train station to the University. Although rail is often the fastest mode of transport, it can also be one of the most expensive. It is, therefore, recommended that students purchase a 16-25 persons railcard to receive 1/3 off of the cost of travel. Tickets can be bought in advance online using any of the rail company websites (e.g. www.thetrainline.com) or on the day at the station.
