Christmas and The 2015 PAGE 2 ST. A NDREW C ATHOLIC C HURCH , S ALINE M ICHIGAN

A Very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year 2016!

I wish to share with you a reflection on the Jubilee Year of Mercy, taking into consideration our Christmas celebration. and Sisters, in his infinite mercy, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” ( 3:16)

To make everything new, God prepared a worthy dwelling for his Son: The Immaculate Mary. It was on the of the that our Year of Mercy began. The year celebrates and highlights our mission to be “witnesses of mercy.”

As missionary disciples of , our mission is to be witnesses to mercy. Any act of mercy done to our neighbor, and offered to God, makes us true missionaries. Mercy is the breath of God. We, as His children, ought to have mercy as our breath. “No one can be excluded from God’s mercy,” the Holy Father has said. This means that we have a right to receive God’s mercy and the duty to share it with God’s creation.

Sisters and Brothers, another Christmas is at our doors! It is time for us to welcome the incarnated Mercy. A new life of mercy is transforming our hearts. Thus, we enter into a passion for God’s mercy. Compassion is possible only when two passions (divine and human) come together. Just as in Jesus, the divinity and humanity met each other. This Christmas, let our passion for God meet God’s passion for us. Through Jesus, God became our Father, who enters into a compassionate relationship with us. Jesus’ love becomes passionate with us and for us. Christmas Blessings, ~ Fr. Francis
