As in previous years, Carleton faculty took an active role in off-campus studies as directors of off-campus programs. Twenty-one faculty members led Carleton off-campus study programs in 2018-19: Ken Abrams, Nancy Braker, Fred Hagstrom, Gregory Hewett, Humberto Huergo, Laska Jimsen, Iveta Jusová, Chérif Keïta, Michael Kowalewski, Christine Lac, Brendan LaRocque, Arthur McKeown, Victoria Morse, Diane Nemec Ignashev, Bill North, Arjendu Pattanayak, Paul Petzschmann, Asuka Sango, Mary Savina, Meera Sehgal, Debby Walser-Kuntz. In addition, Cam Davidson participated as visiting faculty on the Luther College Italy: Earth and Environment, Tsegaye Nega was a Fulbright Scholar in Ethiopia, and Noboru Tomonari taught on the Associated Kyoto Program.

This report covers students who earned Carleton credit on off-campus academic programs. It does not report students who earned Carleton independent study credits for academic work completed off campus. A number of students were also involved in volunteer projects, work abroad, domestic and international camps in geology, biology, and archeology, and independent travel. The attached statistical tables, combined with the annual “Class of 2019 Participation in Off-Campus Studies” report, provide an in-depth view of off-campus studies at Carleton College.
