District Scout Camp Site – Rowen (Gwersyll Parc Mawr)

O.S.Sheet Outdoor Leisure 17 “ and the Conwy Valley.” Grid.Ref.758 735

The site is about 2 acres or more in size and is made up of a split-level camping field and a camp building, which is in an elevated position overlooking the camping area. The whole site would be classed as being of a simple standard and being ideal for groups who wish to be self sufficient and camp independent of modern sophisticated facilities (back to basics).

The camp field is big enough for at least four independent patrol camps, which could be quite separate from each other and each of these patrol areas has a picnic table seating six people. There is usually a reasonable stock of wood on site with more to be collected nearby. On the plateau containing the camp building there is a campfire circle big enough to seat 20 or 30 people.

The camp building contains very basic indoor facilities

• Hall contains o Table and chairs o Sleeping mats o Multifuel stove • Kitchen o 2 x 4-ring/oven LPG cooker o Sink o Filtered drinking water tap • Bunk room 1 o For 4 persons • Bunk room 2 o For 2 persons • Toilet o 3 cubicles/wash basin plus 1 urinal

The multifuel stove burns wood and smokeless solid fuel (not supplied)

The toilets and HQ building are wired for electric lights, but you must provide your own generator. If you wish to use this facility, contact the booking secretary for power output, location etc.
