Geographical Area & Population Information

Conwy is centrally located in North . The County Borough has an area of 113,000 hectares and a population of 116,250 residents (mid-2015 estimate) which, with 99 people per square kilometre, is less densely populated than Wales as a whole. Approximately 38% of its area and 4% of its population are within the National Park.

The narrow coastal belt contains 85% of the County Borough’s population with and Bay as the two main urban areas. Other significant settlements are , Conwy, , , , , and Bay. The remainder of the county is a large rural area the main settlements of which are the market of and the scattered of Betws-y-Coed, Betws yn , , Llanfairtalhaearn, , , and . Its population is widely dispersed and is predominantly Welsh speaking.

As part of the Local Well Being Needs Assessment recently undertaken by Conwy and Public Service Board, has been divided into five areas as follows:
