(620) Grade II R.C.A.H.M.W. survey by A.Murphey 6/12/83 (contains several photographs) Description Cottage with cruck roof, probably not later than the 16th century, with a small modern extension to the E. in the same line; built of uncoursed rubble on a boulder foundation, mostly limewashed or roughcast, with modern roof coverings. The former entrance in the W. half of the n. front has been converted into a window. The other windows, though fitted with modern lintels and sills, are probably original, including a small window in the E. gable. There is a couple of cruck form in each room, that at the W being the better preserved; starting 3'6” from the floor, it is 1'8” deep at the elbow. The attic floor, partition and stairs here are modern, but probably replace an earlier loft to which the window in the E. gable belonged. 1Wynn Papers, No.1499 (before 1627). This and the cruck roof suggest that the 17th century date shown on the plan may be too late.

The free early years education currently provided by the Foundation Phase forms part of this offer. 2.2 Since September 2017 the Welsh Government have been trialling the offer with seven local authorities, namely Gwynedd and Môn (working jointly); Blaenau Gwent; Caerphilly; Flintshire; Rhondda Cynon Taff and Swansea. 2.3 Gwynedd commenced the offer in September 2017, operating in 4 Wellbeing areas. Since then, permission was granted to add more Wellbeing areas gradually. Since April 2018 the Government has agreed to include Gwynedd and Môn fully in the Scheme.

I take the lane down to Holy Well See the hawthorn buds beginning to swell. Primroses bloom on the banks down this lane, ‘Neath the hedges cut by machine again. Little birds searching for somewhere to nest Keep checking to see which side is best. Left passed the ponies asleep in the sun And the chickens are scratching in their run. The blackthorn’s in flower, winter’s not over yet I hope its rain and not snow that we get. I follow this lane which runs by the stream Note the leaves on the willow turning green. Under the tunnel of overgrown trees Where the catkins are swaying in the breeze. An old yew tree leans where vegetables grow And roses are pruned for their summer show. Under two huge poplars which come into view Spring flowers form a carpet of yellow and blue. The path crosses the stream and goes on beyond Where the breeze causes ripples upon a pond. The cattle in the field are chewing the cud The coot’s on her nest and ducks in the mud.

However, over the years, indifference and the application of inappropriate conservation methods have sadly degraded many fine buildings. Fortunately there is now a better understanding of appropriate technologies and a wider appreciation of the importance of good practice. In his talk Matt will tell us about modern attitudes, approaches and policy, including planning requirements, and look at some well-known local examples. About Matt:- Matt Osmont is Senior Conservation Architect at Donald Insall Associates, Conwy, a leading conservation architecture practice, where he is responsible for assessing and advising on conservation projects throughout North Wales. He is architect to the Bro Celynnin Ministry Area and has recently assessed all their churches, including the Valley churches of St Mary’s, Caerhun, St Peter’s, Llanbedr y Cennin, the Llangelynnin Old Church and St Benedict’s, Gyffin. Matt is an acccredited RIBA Conservation Architect, a Professional Examiner for the RIBA and holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Building Conservation.
