Summer Assignments for 7th and 8th Graders

Dear Students,

Happy Summer! In order to provide you with a few opportunities to practice your Spanish skills, please review the categories below. Choose ONE option from ANY category. Each option requires the completion of a project. Complete the work between now and when you return to classes. Each category focuses on different skills, and you should choose the option that best meets your needs and degree of challenge. If you wish to complete more or all - feel free! CATEGORY 1 Review of Skills Optoin + Project (CHOOSE ONE OPTION)

Option A: IXL Spanish: https://www.ixl.com/spanish/ (choose 4 topics from the list below). ​ ​ ​ Rising 7th graders, please use the login credentials from Mrs. Maria Jose’s class. Rising 8th graders, please use the login credentials Mrs. Loveless gave you last fall. Please login to the correct IXL platform, otherwise your answers will not be recorded.

Option B: Quizlet Sets Complete flashcards and TEST in THREE different QUIZLET sets. The ​ quizlets are the same for all classes, unless indicated otherwise in the name of the set. Please join the quizlet with the correct code, or your answers will not be recorded.

Category 1 Summer Project: Create a comic strip telling a story about yourself. You should incorporate the THREE topics you studied in Quizlet or IXL. Use the comic template provided here. Use one slide only. Culture and Skills Integration Summer Project: Analyze at least 4 works of art or artifacts ​ ​ you see, in Spanish. CATEGORY 3 Critical Thinking + Project (CHOOSE ONE Option + Project)

Option A: Movie/Documentary Review Watch a Disney movie (via Netflix, Hulu or other platform) or Documentary (Youtube: Animal Planet clips in Spanish https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuTSm59-_kap6J7Se-orUVA) in ​ ​ Spanish and write a review for it in Spanish. What did you learn? What surprised you (or not)?

Summer Project for Movie/Documentary Review Option: Crate and write in a Google doc ​ ​ you will share via Schoology in the fall.

Option B: Music Review Identify a latino or Spanish recording artist and up to three songs of theirs that you like. Do some background research on the artist, visuals, any fun statistic about their music career and write a “review.” Your songs must be “clean” and need to be in your slide.
