GENERAL REUNION INFORMATION

REUNION HEADQUARTERS AND MESSAGE CENTER

The Class of 1973 Reunion Headquarters will be in the Quincy House Junior Common Room (in New Quincy). Headquarters will serve as a message and information center and a general gathering place throughout the week. It will be open daily from 7:00 am to midnight and staffed by student coordinators Chris Carlson ‘10 and Nicolai Schwarzkopf ‘11. Drop in and see what’s going on and check the bulletin boards regularly for announcements and personal messages. Anyone wishing to leave you a phone message may do so by calling Headquarters from 7:00 am until midnight each day. Messages will be posted on the board. In the event of an emergency, messages will be delivered to your room and Reunion staff will try to find you at an event. At times when Headquarters is not staffed, emergency messages can reach you through the Harvard Police Department at (617) 495-1212.

Headquarters Phone Numbers: (617) 495-7805 or (617) 495-7806

Please feel free to call Headquarters if you need any assistance during your stay on campus. A list of Classmates, spouses, widows/ers and guests attending the Reunion and their room assignments is available at Headquarters. Please ask a staff member, they would be happy to tell you where your friends are being housed.

2 GENERAL REUNION INFORMATION

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

Round trip transportation is provided for all off- campus events. The times printed in this program are exact departure times. Please be on time. If you have limited mobility, please make arrangements at Headquarters for transportation via the Reunion vans.

During the Reunion, complimentary parking is available in the Harvard Athletic Area. If you are a daily commuter going to Reunion Headquarters at Quincy House from the parking area and no shuttle is waiting, call Headquarters at (617) 495- 7805 (or 7806) and a student driver will pick you up. Transportation back to the parking area can be arranged through the student coordinators at Quincy JCR.

EMERGENCY PHONES

Emergency phones (each marked by a blue light) are placed across campus. The blue-light phones are your swiftest means of summoning 24 hour emergency aid. Pushing the red button will connect you directly to the University Police Office. Because every room does not have a phone, be sure to notice the emergency telephone nearest to your assigned house when you check in. The House Superintendent’s office (open 24 hours a day) also has phones. If you are at a University phone, but not at a blue-light phone, you can reach the Harvard Police by dialing 5-1212 or the University Health Service Urgent Care Unit at 5-5711. (If you are not calling from a

3 GENERAL REUNION INFORMATION University phone, dial (617) 495-1212 or (617) 495-5711).

MEDICAL SERVICES

Harvard Health Services at Holyoke Center, 75 Mount Auburn Street, will provide medical coverage on a fee-for-service basis (your insurance company will be billed if appropriate). Medical and surgical services are available daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on the main floor. Please call (617) 495-5711 (5-5711 on campus phones) or enter the building through the pedestrian arcade. At all other hours, medical staff is on duty at the emergency entrance, ground level, accessed from the ramp between Holyoke and Dunster Streets. Your Reunion badge is your identification for admission to the clinic. Medical transportation is also available by calling (617) 495-5711.

BADGES AND TICKETS

Your name badge is your admission ticket to all meals and events, please wear it at all times.

Members of the Class of 1973 who registered for Thursday morning will receive tickets for Commencement and the Afternoon Exercises when they register. NOTE: All Classmates will need tickets to gain entry to the Yard for the morning Commencement exercises. Security will be very tight in the Yard on Commencement Day. Please avoid bringing large bags into the Yard and be prepared to pass through a security check. Guests of the Class of 1973 may

4 GENERAL REUNION INFORMATION watch the Morning Exercises in the Science Center.

Friday’s Radcliffe Association Annual Luncheon is a ticketed event. You must have pre-registered for this event. If you did so, your tickets are in your registration packet. The alternate 1973 lunch is in the Murr Center Indoor Tennis Courts.

HOUSING AND HOSPITALITY ROOMS

We hope you will be comfortable in your assigned rooms. Upon arrival, you should find your rooms tidy, with beds made and fresh towels on hand, as well as soap, bath mats, water glasses, and trash bags. Housekeeping is limited to daily trash collection (place trash outside your door for pick-up). You may exchange towels for fresh ones at the Quincy House JCR.

Seniors awaiting graduation will be occupying some neighboring rooms in the River Houses, and you will be sharing the dorms with families of the 50th and 25th Reunion classes. If noise or untidiness are making your stay uncomfortable, please inform the Headquarters Desk at Quincy House.

Lost your key or swipe card? Maintenance problems in your dorm room? During the hours when headquarters is closed, please call (617) 496-9370. The security guard there will be able to assist you.

For those not staying overnight, there will be two Hospitality Rooms in Quincy House in which to freshen up, rest, or change clothes. Check at

5 GENERAL REUNION INFORMATION Headquarters for locations and keys.

TIPPING

Undergraduates who are earning money for at least part of their college expenses will assist you to and from your rooms with your luggage upon your arrival and departure. We suggest tipping $2 per bag and $1 per trip if using the shuttle vans. You will find an envelope in your registration packet for gratuities. Because the bellhops and drivers pool their tips, we encourage you to drop this envelope off at Headquarters before you depart. Please contact Headquarters if you need errands run or additional assistance. Tipping students for extra services performed is appropriate and appreciated.

CHECK-OUT

When you leave, student bellhops will again assist you with your luggage. If you drove, buses and vans will shuttle you back to the parking area. Please leave your room keys and swipe cards in your room. Please check your room for all belongings before you leave, as it is difficult to retrieve items left in the rooms after the Reunion. We suggest that you allow plenty of time to reach your final destination due to the heavy volume of traffic that week in the Cambridge area, especially on Commencement Day. You must vacate your rooms no later than 11:30 am on Sunday, June 8th. All Reunion staff go off duty at that time and will no longer be able to assist you. There will be a place to store luggage at the 25th Reunion Headquarters at PBHA until 2:00 pm

6 GENERAL REUNION INFORMATION that day. If you need a taxi to go to the airport or train station, there is a list of phone numbers available at Headquarters.
