Scientist in vitro /cochlear biology

The position offers the possibility to join a small but unique company in an exciting emerging field of .

You have a Ph.D. or MSc degree and a minimum of 3 years working (postdoctoral) experience in a biotech company or academic research group. We are particularly interested in candidates that have studied the activity of small using cellular phenotypic assays including cultures based on primary or human tissues.

For academic cell wanting to make a career switch to the biotech industry: we are interested to hear from with a background in or regenerative medicine, in particular those that have worked on inner ear development, drug discovery or gene therapy as evidenced by their publications.

The incumbent will be responsible for in vitro pharmacology studies using cellular assays run with neurospheres and cochlear explants generated from primary animal tissues with QPCR and imaging as readouts.

The incumbent will be involved in Audion’s workplan that is part of the EU FP7 Otostem consortium (www.otostem.org) and Audion’s second small drug discovery program aimed at hair cell regeneration by targeting Atoh1.

Audion’s lead Notch program is planned to go into development in the second quarter of 2014 in collaboration with Eli Lilly an Audion shareholder.

Requirements

• At a minimum you have extensive hands-on experience with: o General in vitro pharmacology and experience o Animal and/or human primary cell and cultures for example human or mouse embryonic stem cells, neuronal and explant cultures o QPCR, reporter and image based readouts for measuring cellular phenotypes • You are systematic and accurate in your experiments and documentation • You understand the importance of proper documentation for the protection of intellectual property • You excel in an environment where team spirit and a result driven mentality are the norm and important to be successfull • You are experienced with project management • You are independent yet an effective, proactive communicator including the presentation of data • You are fluent in English

He or she should be able to start soon, initially it will be a 2 year appointment.
