2016 Course Description

Learn Italian the communicative way! Our motto is: Ridendo s'impara! or, Learn while you're laughing!

Study in offers beginning, intermediate and advanced courses of Italian language and culture. Small groups allow for focused, tailor-made instruction.

Our on-site testing will place you in the appropriate level. Choose the length of course that best suits you: Study in Italy will assist you step by step as you progress in the Italian language. For travellers with little time, courses lasting 1 week or 2 weeks allow for improving skills while living the Genoese experience. For language students with more time available, one-month or two-month courses afford the chance to acquire and hone language ability while living the Ligurian experience. Choose the intensity (2 or 4 hours of instruction).

LA GRANDE BELLEZZA COURSES run for two hours a day, allowing the student to enjoy more free time in the wonderful setting of Genoa and its Riviera. An emphasis on communication is complemented by basic presentation of Italian grammar and lexicon.

LA STRADA COURSES run for four hours a day and are more intensive, allowing students to study grammar and practice conversation. Communication skills are emphasized along with analysis of grammatical structures, idioms and vocabulary. Grammar and contextualized conversation sessions are coordinated.

In addition to language courses, Study in Italy offers ADVANCED COURSES such as Introduction to Italian Literature and Art History. These courses may last four weeks or more. Advanced oral and written expression is given special attention along with the focus on different aspects of Italian culture such as history, geography, politics, cinema, music, media, and literary genres. Survey of Italian Literature includes works by main authors; courses on a particular theme may be organized on request.

Optional CULTURE PACKAGES complement the above courses, introducing students to Italian art, music, history and contemporary life. Internships

She was consultant for the Italian Section of the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) for in pedagogy. Her experience teaching at universities in the United States and in Europe gives her the expertise to interface with American universities for both academic and bureaucratic matters.
