I. PRELIMINARY KNOWLEDGE (HACHI-KYU DENSHO) A. HOURS: 12 HOURS ARE MINIMUM (16 OR MORE IS PREFERABLE). B. STUDENTS MUST KNOW ALL SCHOOL RULES, CUSTOMS, & ETIQUETTE C. CLEAN UNIFORM, ASSOCIATION CREST AND PROPERLY TIED BELT ARE EXPECTED. D. NOTEBOOK IS TO BE TURNED IN FOR GRADING AT THE TIME OF TESTING. E. IMPROVEMENT ON ALL PREVIOUS REQUIREMENTS, PLUS THE FOLLOWING;

III. SELF DEFENSE DIVISION : ESCAPING DIVISION (MIDDLE TRANSMISSION) …. CHUDEN HA-JITSU 1. Two hands on one wrist grab escape...... {Morote hazushi} 2. Front double wrist grab escape...... {Ryote hazushi} 3. Rear double wrist grab escape...... {Ushiro ryote hazushi} 4. Headlock escape...... {Kubi nuki hazushi} 5. IV. ORAL TRANSMISSION (KUDEN) 1. What does a white uniform represent? 2. What does a blue uniform represent? 3. What does a black uniform represent? 4. What does a red uniform represent? 5. What is the purpose of bowing (Rei)? 6. Know the history of Ju-do (“gentle way”) and the development of belts () in martial arts. 7. Know the Japanese terms (i) kyu and (ii) and explain their relevance. 8. Know the secret houses of TaiJitsu.

V. STREET AND CRIME PROOFING (SHINDEN NO KATA) 1. Students will be graded on several aspects of STREET AND CRIME PROOFING safety regarding (i) home (ii) school and (iii) street. 2. Students must have a basic understanding of the LEGAL IMPLICATIONS surrounding self defense.

VI. UNIFORM REQUIREMENT (DOGI) 1. Prior to testing, students must have purchased their own UNIFORM. The color appropriate uniform must be clean and be worn to each class. 2. Students must know uniform FOLDING. 3. Know BELT TYING procedures at this level.
