September 26 - Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time: In today’s gospel Jesus tells his disciples: “Anyone who gives you a drink of water because you belong to Christ will not, I assure you, go without his reward.” On Sep- tember 27, the Church will celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul. The members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are on the front line in labor- ing for the poor, they are among the first to know their real needs. This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist families, providing for food, for utility, rent and other bills. God Bless You!

Join Us for a of Adoration

Jesus calls to our , “Could you not watch one hour with me?” (Matthew 26:40). How can we say “No” to Jesus? “No, I’m too busy with worldly things to sit quietly with You and adore You.”

We now have the wonderful opportunity to sit with Jesus and adore and talk to Him; to tell Him our troubles and ask for His help; to just quietly sit and love Him.

Come join us for Adoration on Mondays from 12:30-1:30pm immediately following noon Mass. We will pray the together at 12:30 and then enjoy a quiet time of Adoration. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The following are the dates for Adoration, beginning an Saturday at 6:45 pm, conclud- ing on Sunday at 6:45 am October 2, 2021 November 6, 2021 December 4, 2021 No adoration in January, will resume on February 5, 2022

Church Dumpster

The church dumpster is to be used for church waste only. We have had several items either placed into or beside the dump- ster recently, including furniture. While it is doubtful that this was done by parishioners, please help us be diligent with waste disposal. The City of Hartwell provides our waste dis- posal service and there are certain items that are not accepta- ble to be placed in the dumpster. These types of items must be hauled away by the church for a fee. Thank you for your assis- tance and attention to this matter. Please contact the office if you observe anyone abusing our dumpster. Volunteers Needed for Sanitizing

We need volunteers to sanitize the sanctuary after the 9:00 am Sunday Mass. We use a hands-free system, and this process takes less than five minutes for two volunteers to sanitize the entire area. Thank you for considering this request as we strive to pro- vide a safe and healthy environment for all.

Please help us update the prayer list by contacting the office. Names will be removed from the list after three weeks unless otherwise requested.

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus and St Mary's Mission Parishioners:

We have begun receiving Afghan refugee families here in Georgia. Charities of Atlanta is the designated organization to help these families integrate into their new home. We are asking each of our parishes to prayerfully consider how we might provide assistance. These families have left their country with little other than the clothing they were wearing. Located below is a link to access the Catholic Charities website. On that site, there is a link to an Amazon registry to order essential items for these families or to donate:

https://catholiccharitiesatlanta.org/2021/08/20/afghan-refugees/

Please consider helping in any way you can and please pray for the Afghan people and for those who have been unable to leave. Thank you in advance for your generosity and con- tact me if you have questions.

Blessings, Kate Lisska, Respect Life Coordinator email: [email protected]

Christ Renews His Parish Our CRHP Weekend is scheduled for October 15, 16, & 17 this year and we are pleased to have a full roster of participants. In anticipation of the activities for this holy weekend, we will depend on the generosity of our parishioners from Sacred Heart and Saint Mary’s Parishes to help defray the cost of the event by donating food items needed for the kitchen. Representatives from the CRHP Team will be available before and after Masses on Sep- tember 25 & 26 and October 2 & 3 with a list of items needed. Please take some time to review the list and sign up to donate. All items should be dropped off before 1:00 pm Thursday, October 14 at the Sacred Heart Parish Office. Thank you for your continues support and generous donations.
