New Business

1. Caps of Love Project – Alice attended the SDCCW vicariate meeting held in Oakley. Alice shared with us the report given by Lori Bieker, Community Concerns Chair for the Salina diocesan Council of Catholic Women and requested that we all, individually, participate in this endeavor. The Caps of Love Project is a very simple way of recycling all types of plastic bottle caps, with 100% of the profits going to provide wheelchairs for handicapped children. Plastic caps are a different grade of plastic from the bottles and are valuable in bulk. They can be sold to companies using recycled ‘post-consumer” plastic to create new products such as park benches, plastic paint cans and more. Everything from beverages, toothpaste, grated cheese, peanut butter, spray paint caps, laundry soap, cleaning products, and the list goes on. All that is necessary is to pull out any paper liners. If the cap has a metal band, it is not recyclable. No metal caps or pull-tabs. Members were asked to collect their caps and bring them each month to the meeting. When appropriate we will forward the caps on the Caps of Love organization.

Cont’d CCW Minutes

The president asked for any additional nominations for the offices of Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Associate Vice Presidents. There were none. By a vote of hands the slate of nominees presented at the April meeting were approved and will be installed at the August 15th meeting.

Bonnie Otey made a motion that we compensate or at the very least reimburse the chair for at least the travel expenses she incurs on numerous occasions. Discussion followed. A stipend was mentioned as was the concern for the organization having what may be construed as a paying position. There was no second to the motion. No action was taken. 6. We will host the 1st of the month breakfasts during the summer. Sign up sheets for the June, July and August events were passed.

Vocation Prayer—Lord God, in your tender mercies you give your holy people every good gift. We turn to you today in our need, asking that you bless our Diocese with an abundance of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Inspire us with your Holy Spirit to help young men and woman hear your call and respond with joyful hearts. We also ask that you bless our priests and all who serve us in the Church today. May they know every grace and joy as you bring to completion the many good works begun in them. We ask this in faith, through Christ our Lord. Amen (Pray daily for Vocations)
