OLD SCHOOL AT THE CENTER: CLASSIC MOVIE SERIES

SUFFOLK, VA (December 19, 2018): Join Suffolk Tourism, in partnership with the Suffolk

Center for Cultural Arts, as they proudly present five modern classics at the Suffolk Center.

Grease will be shown on Thursday, January 10, 2019; Ferris Bueller’s Day Off will be shown on

Thursday, January 17; Clueless will be shown on Thursday, January 24; will be shown on Thursday, January 31; and Remember The Titans will be shown on Thursday,

February 7. All movies are FREE and will begin at 7 p.m.; however, a suggested $2 donation or non-perishable food item is encouraged.

In the inspirational Remember The Titans, suburban Virginia schools have been segregated for generations. One black and one white high school are closed and the students are sent to T. C.

Williams High School under federal mandate to integrate. The year is seen through the eyes of the football team where the man hired to coach the black school is made head coach over the highly successful white coach. Based on the actual events of 1971, the team becomes the unifying symbol for the community as the boys and the adults learn to depend on and trust each other.
