People have said you’re living the dream. You think back on your accomplishments and they are noble, commendable, acclaimed. But, there’s always room for a few more accolades…right?

What if there was a way for you to change lives by supporting education? After all, it’s what made you what you are today. Whether you were educated at a traditional college, the school of life, or in the school of hard knocks, you know that learning and mastering the ability to learn has been your key to success.

Now, imagine paying homage to education right here in a town that you live in, work in, play in, and love: Newport Beach.

We’re building a college in Newport Beach—not just a college, Newport Beach’s first comprehensive community college—and we need your help to make it happen.

You see it every day as you drive down PCH—that vacant hillside. Some may even claim that it’s not Newport, but those who are business-savvy know that this—THIS—is the last untapped jewel of Newport.

With the rise of office buildings, shopping centers, and housing developments all around it, this small strand of sleepy industrial buildings managed to dodge development and attention…until now.

This is the site of Coastline’s Newport Beach Campus. Just as the adjacent Banning Ranch site will transform this fringe of Newport into a beautiful live, work, play community, the Coastline Newport Beach Campus will bring education to the mix and invigorate the area with core curriculum, PE, Dance and Art classes, and a community Art Gallery.

Just as a palindrome has a beginning and an end that mirror each other perfectly as one, this college will mirror—in both beauty and in brains—the prestigious beach community it shadows.

Measure C

The Coastline Newport Beach Campus will be built with Measure C funds– a $370 million bond measure that has already financed a number of facility and infrastructure improvements at Coast Community College District colleges. Measure C was originally approved by voters in 2002 and has positively impacted thousands of students. Monrovia Ave. BANNING 55 Welcome to RANCH CAMPUS Placentia Ave. SITE 1515 Monrovia,

It may not seem like a lot, but in that space lies the potential for something great. Today, it appears as a jumble of boarded-up buildings surrounded by years of growth. A chain-link fence restrains a portion of the property while the other half mocks modernization with a look inconsistent with its scenic Newport Beach surroundings. Within its eco-friendly grounds, you’ll find dedicated instructors teaching English, history, humanities, mathematics, foreign languages and more.

As home to Coastline’s visual and performing arts programs, music will penetrate the halls and budding artists will refine their talents—using the building’s hallways and its on-site Art Gallery as a showplace for their work. The campus will also be home to a professional dance studio for those students (young and old) who enjoy a little ballet, tap, jazz, or modern dance for fitness or just for fun.

Parents and grandparents can bring their little ones to the center to participate in a lively Parent Ed program—the perfect option for families looking for fun ways to learn and grow together.

Future lawyers can get their start in Coastline’s Paralegal Program, which will also be based at this site.

The Newport Beach Campus will also serve the needs of students with disabilities. Coastline is already a leader in providing special programs and services for the disabled, and has been operating the acclaimed Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) program for more than 30 years. The college is anxious to give this stellar program a permanent home in Newport Beach.

When you combine these course options with a stunning building, state- of-the-art technology, and top-notch student services, you realize that the Coastline Newport Beach Campus is poised to become a sought- after jewel atop Newport’s majestic hillside. And, when you imagine yourself playing a role in making all of this possible, it’s hard to not get involved with a project like this one.

Art Gallery

The Coastline Art Gallery is currently located near the intersection of Brookhurst and Adams in Huntington Beach. Relocating the Gallery to Newport Beach – as part of the Newport Beach Campus – allows the college to showcase works of art to the general student population and enhances the college’s capabilities for hosting art-themed events and activities. About...the college Unlike most colleges, Coastline does not have a traditional campus. Instead, instruction is offered at approximately 30 sites throughout the Coast Community College District. These teaching sites include high schools, office buildings and many other facilities.

In addition to these neighborhood sites, the college has three main mini- campuses based in Costa Mesa, Garden Grove and Westminster, with an administration building (offering enrollment services, counseling, a bookstore, and more) in Fountain Valley. At Coastline, students can choose to take courses to fulfill their general education transfer requirements, or explore exciting vocational programs like Biotechnology and Informatics. In addition, Coastline also offers a renowned English as a Second Language (ESL) program and a unique Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) program.

Coastline Community College has an international reputation as one of the nation’s most innovative institutions. Founded in 1976, Coastline is committed to student success through accessible and flexible education within and beyond the traditional classroom. A majority of students take at least one class via the college’s state-of-the- art Distance Learning program, which allows flexible learning via the internet, CD-ROM, Emmy award winning telecourses, and even classes on hand-held PDA.

The college also forms progressive and unique relationships with business and industry. For example, Coastline has combined efforts with the Workforce Investment Board to operate the Orange County One-Stop Centers, which offer employment services for individual job-seekers and for businesses. In addition, Coastline’s Contract Education program includes an extensive program that allows enlisted members of the U.S. Military to easily pursue an education (mainly via Distance Learning) at Coastline.

Coastline is part of the Coast Community College District, which also includes and Golden West College.

About the Coast District

Coastline is part of the three-college Coast Community College District, which includes sister colleges Golden West College and Orange Coast College. The District is governed by an elected Board of Trustees. About...the foundation

Mission Statement The mission of the Coastline Community College Foundation is to support students through scholarships, endowment and other financial programs to expand the capacity to meet the diverse needs of Coastline students and the community.

Sue Gordon is the Vice President of Environmental and Public Affairs at Rainbow Disposal and also a Foundation Board member. In 1984, it became obvious to the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees that private funding had become a necessary supplement to enable the District’s three colleges to sustain their high level of quality and innovation. The time arrived to develop new funding mechanisms for our community college system. In November 1985, Coastline Community College Foundation held its first official meeting as an incorporated 501 (C) (3) organization. Ever since, the Coastline Foundation has served the college as an independent organization with a full board of directors, staff allocated by the college, and a full range of activities and services to the college.

Coastline’s current and future student population depends on the support that the Coastline Foundation provides. The Coastline Foundation plays a significant role in the life of the college and provides funding for computer equipment, scholarships, student activities and events, classroom enhancements, and more. In addition, the Coastline Foundation coordinates major fundraising event and campaigns for the college, including planned giving, naming opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships.

The Coastline Foundation continually searches for new and innovative ways to serve the Coast District community, including Newport Beach. As we expand our overall reach by bringing a new campus to Newport, we ask for your involvement in expanding our Foundation—and its mission—throughout the area as well.
