Cey-Nor Foundation Limited is a state-owned business organization functioning under the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development of Sri Lanka. With its expertise and cutting edge facilities in boat building, the key activity of Cey-Nor is focused on turning out high-quality fiber vessels at competitive rates. The company also offers a vast range of fishnets and allied products associated with the to its customers. The technology for vessel building has highly evolved in the past with the usage of sophisticated machinery and equipment in this process where a workforce with specialized knowledge and training too are crucial for such. This requirement limits boatyards in Sri Lanka only to a few where building and repair of vessels can be carried out efficiently at the same time.

Cey-Nor Foundation’s boatyard lies in the northern zone of Colombo, spreading over an extent of 5 acres with two production pads – one of which can simultaneously accommodate the building of two large vessels that exceed 40 feet, which is also capable in effecting the necessary repairs to five vessels without being taken out of water, while the other is equipped with facilities for building twenty numbers of smaller vessels of 38 feet and below at a time. The services of the boatyard have been brought up to the recognized international level with the provision of the most modern equipment and technological breakthroughs in the particular field, also with the acquisition of a specialized software (Paramarine) used in advanced shipbuilding. This would predetermine the quality of the manufacturing process from its inception to the end, eliminating the possibility of unexpected flaws, such as rolling, thus perfecting the stability and safety of the vessel.

As Cey-Nor boats are built under such stringent conditions conforming to international production standards, it is intended to have the recognition of Lloyds Certification for its products and services which would further enhance the image of the company, earning greater confidence of its customers who opt for such quality.

Cey-Nor has come a long way from making primitive timber boats at its initial stage in 1967, moving on to building of ferro-cement craft following the trend in the past, currently to be well-versed in the latest techniques in fiberglass boat building. Cey-Nor is proud of being the only state institution capable of providing a quality-assured product with its expertise and cutting edge facilities in boat building as outlined above at an affordable price. Acceding to a request for transfer of knowledge and expertise in boat building to Bangladesh on a joint venture project, Cey-Nor Foundation has paved the cornerstone of fiberglass boat industry in Bangladesh, which is yet another achievement of the company in the recent past. Cey-Nor Foundation also ventured into offshore construction activities in 2013, earning an income of Rs. 86 million. Refrigeration system includes a cool room and a slurry ice machine. Refrigerated fish hold is able to maintain a temperature around -20oC. The system is equipped with one Bitzer Compressor. Marine Grade LUV evaporated is being used and the system will improve the quality of the catch. The vessel can reduce the quantity of the fish on ice which will reduce the load of the vessel. This will improve the fuel economy of the boat and increase the fish holding capacity. The Slurry Ice Machine can produce 3 tons of slurry ice that will enable to preserve the fish well and retain the freshness of the catch.
