Course Description Horticulture/ Floriculture is a year - long hands on course that is a sampling of the Horticulture/ Floriculture industry. This class will cover science concepts, principles of design, examine the uses of fresh-cut and foliage, explore the mechanics and safety of a variety of designs, and teach students to apply concepts used in this class through hands- on activities. We will do our best to have the opportunity to work hands-on in the planting and maintaining and flowers depending on the circumstances. FFA is an integral part of this class.

Classroom Expectations: ● Attend class every day. Attendance is required and expected. Please be on time. ● If for ANY reason you must be absent, it is your responsibility to get all your missed assignments and information. ● All assignments, announcements and due dates will be posted daily in our Google Classroom ● Major assessments may be revised. ● Show respect for others-you will be treated with respect in return. ● If you have a problem in class or about the class, speak with me privately. ● Students will be assessed based on a variety of strategies to include; active class participation, activities, quizzes and tests. ● We believe in Eagle P.R.I.D.E (Perseverance,Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Engagement ​ ​ ) ● Students are expected to participate in all activities.

Grading Students will be using a graded point system. Students will earn points for homework, daily work, and participation, projects and tests. Students will be using Google Classroom during Comprehensive Distance Learning. Google Classroom is where students will be able to find materials, worksheets, direction and where students will turn in their work. Grades will be based on the following scale:

90-100%=A Quality of work EXCEEDS expectations Demonstrates complete understanding of concepts and information through daily work and tests. Work is completed on or before due date.

80-89%= B Work is generally above average quality. Demonstrates understanding of most information. Work is complete on or before the due date.

70-79%=C Acceptable, average quality work. Knowledge and understanding are still developing. Work completed on or before the due date.

60-69%=D Quality of work generally needs much improvement or is incomplete. Little evidence of understanding. Work completed on or before due date.

59% -0%= F Quality of work generally needs much improvement or is incomplete. Little evidence of understanding. Work was not turned in or was no t completed before the due date.

*Other marks you may see in the Home Access Center grade book: MH Missing The due date for the assignment has passed and your assignment has not been turned in. It is know late work

NYH Not Yet Your teacher has graded the assignment and your work didn’t meet the minimum Meeting requirements to receive a grade. You may not have completed the assignments or Expectations not understood the content well enough to show your learning.

Late Work To receive full credit for the quality of your class work, it must be properly completed on or before the due date. Due dates will be posted in Google Classroom. If you have circumstances that prevent you from turning an assignment on time, exceptions will be made but you have to talk to your teacher before the due date. Late work is worth 80% if one class late, 60% if more ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ than one class late.
