Description Jazz Technologies™ (AMEX: JAZ) is the parent company of its wholly owned subsidiary, Jazz Semiconductor, Inc. Jazz Semiconductor® is an independent wafer foundry focused primarily on specialty CMOS process technologies for the manufacture of highly integrated analog and mixed‐signal semiconductor devices. The company serves customers targeting wireless, optical networking, power management, consumer electronics, storage, aerospace/defense, and other high‐performance applications.
History Jazz Technologies is led by Chairman and CEO Gil Amelio, former CEO of Apple Computer, National Semiconductor, and former President of Rockwell Semiconductor. Jazz Semiconductor’s business was formed in March 2002 upon the contribution of Newport Fab, LLC, by Conexant Systems, Inc., to Jazz Semiconductor, together with a cash investment by affiliates of The Carlyle Group. In February 2007, Jazz Semiconductor was acquired by Jazz Technologies in an all‐cash transaction.
Facilities Jazz Semiconductor currently provides cost‐effective manufacturing capacity to its customers from its wafer fabrication facility located in Newport Beach, California. The company also has engineering, manufacturing, and sales support in Shanghai, China. Jazz has expanded its wafer capacity in China through manufacturing partnerships with Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation and Hua Hong NEC Electronics Co., Ltd.
Technology The Company’s process technology portfolio is comprised of advanced RFCMOS, BiCMOS (Bipolar Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor), High Voltage CMOS, Bipolar CMOS DMOS (BCD), and SiGe (Silicon Germanium) BiCMOS processes.
Customers Jazz Semiconductor currently serves more than 100 customers, including Skyworks Solutions, Inc., Conexant Systems, Inc., Marvell Technology Group, Ltd., Mindspeed Technologies, Inc., Texas Instruments, Airoha Technology Group, Xceive Corporation, Sirenza Microdevices, DRS Systems, Inc., RF Micro Devices, Inc.
