A Hyperion Customer Advisory Notice Product Incompatibility with 7

Description

Please be advised that Hyperion has identified a product incompatibility with Windows . We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and will send another update as we move closer to a resolution.

Microsoft is distributing Internet Explorer 7 via Automatic Updates for Windows XP and .

Hyperion Products Affected

Internet Explorer 7.0 is not compatible with the following Hyperion releases: • All Hyperion System 9 products except Hyperion System 9 Strategic Finance • Hyperion Analyzer • Hyperion Enterprise • Hyperion Financial Management • Hyperion Planning • Hyperion Reports • Hyperion Translation Manager

Recommendations

Do not upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 at this time. You may disable Automatic Updates by going to the Windows and from .X Tools > Internet Options, Advanced . Deselect “Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates” and click OK.

Alternatively, Microsoft is making a non-expiring Blocker Toolkit available for organizations that would like to block automatic delivery of Internet Explorer 7 to machines in environments where Automatic Updates are enabled.

Note: • The Blocker Toolkit will prevent machines from receiving Internet Explorer 7 as a high-priority update via Automatic Updates and the “Express” install option on the and Microsoft Update sites. The Blocker Toolkit will not expire.

• The Blocker Toolkit will not prevent users from manually installing Internet Explorer 7 as a recommended update from the Windows Update or Microsoft Update sites, from the Microsoft Download Center, or from external media.

• Organizations do not need to deploy the Blocker Toolkit in environments managed with an update management solution such as Windows Server Update Services or Systems Management Server 2003. Organizations can use those products to fully manage deployment of updates released through Windows Update and Microsoft Update, including Internet Explorer 7, within their environments.

Additional information from Microsoft on how to prevent automatic installation of IE7 is available here.
