Cover image: Pictured is an illustration showing membranous vesicles transported by motor proteins along microtubules, overlaid on a super-resolution image of the microtubule net- work captured by using stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM). Stefan Bálint et al. studied the effects of 3D microtubule architecture on cargo transport at microtubule– microtubule intersections by correlating single particle trajectories of lysosomes with super- resolution images of the microtubule network. The findings suggest that motor activity is highly regulated to maneuver through cytoskeletal obstructions, and provide insights into the impact of cytoskeletal geometry on cargo transport. See the article by Bálint et al. on pages 3375–3380. Illustration courtesy of Álex Salmerón (Digivision, Reus, Spain).
