9.1 EYE AND EAR PREPARATIONS • ANTAZOLINE+ TETRYZOLINE Indication: Ocular allergies and ophthamic decongestion in conjunctivitis. Usual Dose: Instill 1-2 drops 4-6 times daily. Adverse Reaction: Mild burning sensation, headache, sleepiness, tachycardia. Preparations: Eye drops ED(,) (Antazoline HCl 0.05% + tetryzoline HCl 0.04%)

• CHLORAMPHENICAL EYE DROP Indication: Blepharitis, dacryocystitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis and corneal ulcerations due to bacterial infections. Usual Dose: Instill 1-2 drops 4-8 times daily. Adverse Reaction: Burning or stinging Preparations: Eye drop ED(8) (0.5%Chloramphenicol)

• CHLORAMPHENICAL EAR DROP Indication: Ear infections & reduction of pain Usual Dose: Instill 2-3 drops to the infected ear tid-qid. Preparations: Ear drop ED(8) (1% Chloramphenicol+2% lidocaine HCl)

• DEXAMETHASONE+NEOMYCIN SULFATE Indication: Treatment of infection and inflammation of eye or ear. Usual Dose: Instill 1-2 drops every 1-2 hr. Adverse Reaction: Corneal ulcers, raised intraocular pressure, visual defects . Preparations: Eye drops ED(8) (Dexamethasone phosphate 1 mg+ neomycin 3.5 mg)

• OXYTETRACYCLINE+POLYMYXIN B Indication: Conjunctivitis, keratitis, trachoma, blepharitis Usual Dose: Apply 4-6 times daily. Adverse Reaction: Allergic reactions. Preparations: Eye Ointment NED (Oxytetracycline 0.5%, polymyxin B 10,000 u)

- 77 - EYE, EAR, NOSE AND THROAT PREPARATIONS 9.2 THROAT PREPARATIONS • NYSTATIN SUSPENSION Indication: Intestinal oral moniliasis or candidiasis and other monilial infections during broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy Unlabeled/investigation indication: N/A Usual Dose: Swish and hold 1 mL in mouth for as long as possible before swallowing 4 times/day Adverse Reaction: GI disturbances Pregnancy risk factor: C Lactation: Does not enter breast milk/compatible (not absorbed orally) Preparations: Suspension 12 mL ED ( Mycostatin 100000 unit per mL)

• TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE ORAL PASTE Indication: Oral inflammatory lesions/ulcers Usual Dose: Apply at bedtime. Pregnancy risk factor: C Preparations: Oral paste NED (5 g: 0.1%Triamcinolone)

9.3 GARGLES • SPECIAL MOUTH WASH Indication: As antiseptic Usual Dose: Rinse mouth with 15 mL of the solution for 1 minute 3 times daily. Preparations: Mouth wash ED(8)
