The heavy rains of May 5 may have deterred walkers, but not generosity in giving. Including a contribution from Congregation Rodeph Sholom, B’nai Torah raised $1,032! This year B’nai Torah was honored at the CROP Rally on March 31 for our commitment to CROP. Mara Brosler accepted the honor and spoke eloquently about the many good works Congregation B’nai Torah does year round to relieve those in need of sustenance. Local programs receiving funds from the 2019 CROP Walk are: Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Council of Churches, Daughters of Charity, King’s Pantry, Operation Hope, Stratford Baptist Church Food Pantry, Spooner House, Thomas Merton Center, and Trumbull Social Services. In addition, B’nai Torah’s contributions are distributed through MAZON, a national advocacy program which works to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel. Special thanks to Penny Volpe and Mara Brosler for your involvement, and to the Sunday morning Minyan, Hebrew School students, and to B’nai Torah congregants for your support.
