7-DAY RESIDENTIAL RETREAT ON THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA! DHRUPAD / NADA YOGA with 17 participants, May 21-27th, 2018 (arrive evening before, depart morning after)

Dhrupad is an ancient form of Indian classical , tracing its origins to chanting of the Sama Veda. Philosophically and spiritually, Dhrupad is considered a Nada Yoga - using the body as the instrument for sound - ultimately, to be in union with the expansive, silent Self.

With the Gundecha Brothers, globally renowned master teachers and performers of Dhrupad, this promises to be a deeply immersive and transformative sadhana. Whether you are an accomplished singer of Indian classical / music or in any other musical tradition, or invested in chanting and/or the sadhana of sound (or a beginner in either), this retreat is transformative for your connection with original voice, mastery of breath and alignment of body energy centers, to bring about the total harmonic sphere of every musical sound created. If you’re an advanced singer of Raga music, you will get to practice Raga and gain immensely from Dhrupad’s strong emphasis on pitch, accurate approach, rendering and frequency of every note, and the relationship between notes. Through group sessions and 1:1 lessons tailored to you, you can learn or deepen Dhrupad alaap, traditional and new compositions, and gain practice in tala.

This retreat is fully residential and the tuition covers guidance/instruction, shared stay and 3 vegetarian meals a day. TUITION: $975 CAPACITY: 17 FINAL REGISTRATION (full payment): 11th May, 2018 EMAIL: [email protected]
