Tore Svensson Curriculum Vitae

Born 1948, Alfta,

1973-74 Västerbergs Art School, Gävle, Sweden 1974-78 Gothenburg University, School of Design and Craft, Gothenburg, Sweden

Working in Gothenburg, Sweden

A metal-smith who elects to chase a bowl in iron undertakes heavy, time- consuming work.

The metal must be hammered thousands of times. For over three decades, I have sought a single simple form: the few bowls I make each year hardly vary in size and form deriving their appearance from the lengthy process. Fired with linseed oil, the iron is black. A streak of gold on some bowls pierces this darkness.

I do not make the bowls for material use, but as holders for thoughts. Tore Svensson -2-
