Solution from roll or sheet for creative die-cut products

At the Hunkeler Innovationdays, which take place in Lucerne from February 25 – 28 2019, BOGRAMA and HUNKELER are going to present a new combination solution for creative die-cut products from roll or sheet.

The digitally printed paper is unrolled on the Hunkeler unwinding module UW6 and fed to the cross cutting module CS8. Here, the up to 22" (560mm) wide paper or half web is cut into B2 size sheets and fed to the rotary die-cutter BS Rotary 550 Servo of Bograma. A personalized premium is die-cut in double flow.

The innovative cutting system allows cutting, kiss-cutting, creasing, perforating and embossing for the creative processing of printed products, e.g. as mailings, supplements, booklet , folders, greeting cards, folded and labels in one-up or multiple-up mode.

As an alternative to feed from roll, the system includes a flat pile feeder, via which sheets are fed from the stack to the area and die-cut by means of a rotating flexible die. The sheet alignment on the side is performed by register table with ball rail. Using the "Dynamic side alignment" (Auto Register Correction), each sheet is aligned laterally. The print mark reader corrects in running direction. This ensures a consistent cutting accuracy of +/- 0.1 mm, even with digitally printed sheets. The integrated monitoring serves on the one hand the production monitoring, on the other hand the tracking of the products.

The automatic discharging of section grids and simultaneous separation of inner cuts increases the efficiency and ensures a neat delivery of the die-cut products or their direct further processing in downstream . In the production line at the Hunkeler Innovation Days, the cutting module SSM-570 of HUNKELER SYSTEME is shown for the first time. It serves to remove and shred stamp scraps. Rollers rotating synchronously with the die-cutting guide the scraps in a controlled manner to the cutting blade. A conveyor belt removes the shredded scraps from the work area. They are then disposed by the new Hunkeler HKU 2000-N compact suction.

The format range of the BSR 550 Servo is between 210 x 210 mm and 550 x 750 mm and sheets between 80 gsm and 0.5 mm product thickness can be processed. The maximum output of the machine is 12'000 sheets/hour or 165 m/min (depending on material and format).

The compatibility with cross cutters, folding machines, deliveries, mailing systems and packaging machines makes the system versatile. At the exhibited production line a HERZOG + HEYMANN pocket folder is connected, which creates finished folded mailings/folding cards.
