Project Experience

Northwest Drive ( ), Edmonton, , Canada (2009-2011) Provided post-design services for the project, including working on field design changes, requests for information, and shop drawing reviews. The new roadway, which will include 9 interchanges and a total of 29 bridge structures, will provide a four- to six-lane, fully grade-separated freeway.

Region 1 Tunnel NPS Tunnel Engineering Services, Summit and Clear Creek Counties, CO (2010, 2009, 2007) Responsible for performing structural inspections of the ventilation plenums and buildings and ceiling spaces. Responsibilities also included condition ratings, report generation, and recommendations. Inspection efforts covered the tunnels and their above-roadway air supply plenums and ventilation buildings at each end of the tunnels.

Utah Interstate 15 Pioneer Crossing East/West Connector Design-Build, American Fork, UT (2008-2010) Responsible for the design of various bridge elements for multiple structure types, including box culverts and pre-cast pre-stressed girder bridges. Responsibilities include the design of miscellaneous structures, including cast-in-place retaining walls, mechanically stabilized earth and retaining wall concrete copings, fence connections, roadway barriers, and high-mast light pole foundations.

Provo to Salt Lake FrontRunner, Salt Lake City, UT (2007-2009) Responsible for the design of various bridges elements for multiple structure types, including adjacent pre-cast pre-stressed concrete box girder, pre-cast pre-stressed concrete girder, and steel plate girder bridges. The project involves providing design services for the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) 44.7-mile commuter rail transit project that begins in Salt Lake City; extends south in the UTA corridor; runs adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) right-of-way through Salt Lake County; and terminates in Provo, Utah.

Mid-Jordan Light Rail Design-Build Project, Salt Lake City, UT (2007-2009) Responsible for the design of various bridge elements for multiple structure types, including adjacent pre-cast pre-stressed concrete box girder and pre-cast pre-stressed concrete girder bridges. The Mid-Jordan light rail transit line will be 10.6 miles of double-track, tie-and-ballast construction with eight stations, including park- and-ride lots.

Miami Automated People Mover System, Miami, FL (2009) Responsible for the check of prestressed concrete girders for a total of four spans. The Miami International Airport (MIA) Automated People Mover (APM) system is being delivered under a design-build-operate- maintain (DBOM) method.

John James Audubon Bridge Design-Build, St. Francisville, LA (2006-2008) Responsible for the independent design check of subconsultant designs for various bridges elements for multiple structure types, including cast-in-place concrete slab and pre-cast pre-stressed concrete girder bridges. Performed plan reviews and suggested resolutions for numerous bridges on the project. In addition to the associated roadway and approaches, the project involves the design and construction of the longest cable-stayed bridge in North and South America, with a main span of 1,583 ft., crossing the Mississippi River near St. Francisville, Louisiana.

Saadiyat Bridge, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emerates (2006) Responsible for the design of the main span’s asymmetrical “V” pier substructure and portions of the pier table. The Saadiyat Bridge will serve as the transportation link between the Mina Zayed district of Abu Dhabi and the new Saadiyat Island development. The 1.5 km long bridge, utilizing both the cast-in-place balanced cantilever segmental concrete construction method and the incremental launching construction method, will have a main span of 200 m and is being designed to accommodate a 5x5 lane configuration plus a passenger rail corridor.

Eagle Pass Outer Loop, Eagle Pass, TX (2006) Responsible for the complete design and final plan generation of four bridges. All four bridges were precast prestressed concrete girder bridges. The project involved the final design and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for four precast prestressed concrete girder bridges, as well as a two-lane divided highway.

Interstate 680 Benicia-Martinex Bridge Replacement, Martinex, CA (2005-2006) Responsible for performing pier design check calculations for construction loadings and movements. The project involved replacement of the post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge using the balanced cantilever construction method. Both the substructure and superstructure were cast-in-place.

Interstate 40 / Coors Boulevard Reconstruction, Albuquerque, NM (2004-2006) Responsible for the design of various bridge elements for multiple structures and plan development. The $91 million design-build project involved 2 miles of roadwork, 6 highway bridges, 2 pedestrian bridges, and 20 mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls.

Southeast Corridor Transportation Expansion Project (T-REX) Design-Build, Denver, CO (2004) Responsible for various filed design changes, design and coordination, and shop drawing checks. The expansion project involved reconstruction of 17 miles of Interstate 25/Interstate 225, including 12 interchanges, a new 19-mile light rail extension, and stations and parking facilities, all within a tightly constrained urban transportation corridor.

BNSF Bridge Replacement over Kipling Street, Arvada, Colorado (2011) Bridge Engineer responsible for final design of a new bridge carrying the existing BNSF tracks over Kipling Street. The bridge is a 2-span bridge with a prestressed concrete girder superstructure. The project is part of the RTD EAGLE P3 design/build Gold Line project which provides a new light rail line from downtown Denver to Ward Road.

SH36 over Comanche Creek, Strasburg, Colorado (2011) Bridge Engineer responsible for independent design check of a new bridge carrying the existing SH 36 over Comanche Creek. The bridge is a 2-span bridge with a precast prestressed side-by-side concrete box girder superstructure. The project is part of the State of Colorado's FASTER Bridge Enterprise Program.
