Congratulations for those who turned 20 years old! (Since April 2 in 2012, or will turn by April 1 in 2013) The Coming of Age Ceremony photo shoot service will be held at Japan-America Society of Washington D.C., to celebrate you becoming a new adult. Those who already turned the age of 20 in past few years but did not get to wear Kimono are welcome to catch up!
Ladies will be dressed in gorgeous Furisode, a long sleeve Kimono with elaborate Obi sash bow and will have the opportunity to be photographed. You will be able to choose from three different Furisode, Obi sash and hair accessories. Gentlemen will be dressed in Kuro-montsuki Haori Hakama, a black formal Kimono with family crests and striped divided skirt. Due to the set length of the Hakama, which is particular to men’s Kimono, the whole body shot may be above ankles. After being dressed, you will receive a short celebration word by Mrs. Kuniko Kanawa, welcoming you as a new adult.
The photo shoot will be studio style, taken by EOS 7D Canon digital camera, consists of approximately 10 shots; headshots, whole body shots, and back shot. You will be nicely posed by a photographer who is also a Kimono model, so please relax!. You will later receive high resolution digital images by CD or e-mail. Parents are welcome to join. Formal Kimonos are available for you as well for additional charge. Please feel free to consult.
If you agree to allow Washington D.C. Kimono Club to use your photos, you will be offered a $40 cash back after the photo shoot. The photos will be used on Washington D.C. Kimono Club’s website, flyers, public video, and more. Washington D.C. Kimono Club is for anybody who loves Kimono and Japanese seasonal cultural events!
