Otherwise we gain only additive knowledge that doesn't disturb our present descriptions or change our existing order. In the Realm of the Spirit looks at our relationship to life through the art of Aikido. By looking through different windows of a house, we can come to know more about the inhabitants. What I describe is a view through one of many windows. My view is just a view. This is how it looks to me at this moment. Aikido is a profound art. This simplified description represents a doorway to learning, not the art. -

Prefazione Kyûdô significa letteralmente "via dell'arco"; in Oriente la parola "via" non significa solamente strada nel senso di traccia da percorrere per gli spostamenti, ma anche (ed in questo caso esclusivamente) percorso dell'essere umano verso il suo miglioramento anche tecnico ma soprattutto verso la sua crescita interiore come Uomo: lo stesso ideogramma si legge Tao in cinese. -

L’habillement 3. les zooris : Ce sont des sortes de sandales en paille que Le Gi est l’habillement d’un aïkidoka. C’est pour cette raison qu’il faut bien faire attention à la façon dont on est habillé avant d’entrer sur le tatami. Pour l’aïkido, il est de couleur blanche ou crème. 2. la ceinture ou obi : Elle sert à maintenir le keikogi grâce à un nœud plat. -

Through this relation, a simplification of kendo appears. Basic Definitions: The following are basic definitions for the various notions discussed throughout. These basic definitions will be built upon in the following sections: Suki, “(1) Gap, space, (2) Break, interval, (3) Chink (in one’s armor), chance, opportunity” In kendo, suki is used to refer to an opening in the opponent’s (or your own) defenses. -

Long, Renshi In this issue of our newsletter, I would like to focus my discussion on the meaning of the waza of Iaijutsu, as Iaijutsu represents the “backbone” of the Jikishin-Kai International. First Encounter with Iai in Japan, the Days of Sword-Wielding Battles Are A
PROMENADE In Japan, the days of sword-wielding battles are a thing of the past. However, one of the techniques of wielding swords is being passed on from generation to generation. It is iaido (iai for short), the art of drawing a sword in one stroke to cut down the opponent or ward off an attack. “Why use a sword in this peaceful era?” you may ask. However, iai does not train people to kill one another. Iai is being handed down because one of its purposes is to train the soul – a world of great depth.
