Pesach Zemanim and Instructions for Davening Alone

TUESDAY EVENING APRIL 7 • Bedikas after 8:20pm starting with the bracha “al biur chametz” and then say the nighttime “bitul” formula (in Aramaic as well as English)

WEDNESDAY MORNING APRIL 8 • Shacharis (omit mizmor l’sodah, and lamenatzeach) and then tune in by phone or Zoom to a Siyum (6:50,7:30, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00) and if you are a firstborn you must eat something after the Siyum, in celebration. This will exempt you from fasting the rest of the day. • Latest time to eat chametz 10:34am and burn or dispose of chametz before 11:51am. After you dispose (carefully flush down toilet) or burn the chametz in a grill or fireplace say the daytime “bitul” formula (in Aramaic as well as English). • One should not eat matzah at all on Erev Pesach. You can eat Egg Matzah until 10:36am. Products containing matzah meal that are baked with matza or matza meal (e.g. cookies, matza brei, breaded chicken or fish) may not be eaten all day Erev Pesach. Products that are cooked/boiled with matzah meal (e.g. kneidlach or gefilte fish) may be eaten until 4:00pm (10th hour of the day). After 4:00m you can still snack on meat, fish, salad, cheese, eggs, fruits, vegetables etc…but you should not fill up on these items so as to ensure a hearty appetite at the seder to eat matza with enthisiasm. • Make an Eruv Tavshilin.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT APRIL 8 • Candle Lighting (brachos of “lehadlik” and “shehechiyanu”) is 7:19 pm. • Finish before 7:37 and Daven Yom Tov after 7:37 pm. • Even if it is generally your custom to say with a bracha in shul on Pesach night, Hallel is NOT recited after Maariv without a . • Start the Seder () AFTER 8:21 pm.

YOM TOV 1 – THURSDAY APRIL 9 • Daven Shacharis ( of Yom Tov, birkos krias shma of weekday Yom Tov, and special Shmoneh Esrei for Yom Tov and full hallel) at 7:00, 8:30 (with break for learning), 8:45, or 9:00. • Sof Zeman Krias Shema 9:53 • One should not recite the sections for taking out and returning the . • Read the Krias HaTorah to yourself (Shemos 12:21-51) and maftir (Bamidbar 28:16-25) and (Yehoshua 3:5-7, 5:2-15, 6:1, and 6:27). • Daven Yom Tov Musaf WITH MASHIV HARUACH • There is No Tefilas Tal when Davening alone. • There is no Anim Zemiros when Davening alone. • Daven Yom Tov Mincha (WITHOUT MASHIV HARUACH) between 1:41pm and 7:39pm(shkia) and daven Maariv after 8:22pm. • Preparations for the 2nd day NOT BEFORE 8:22pm. • COUNT SEFIRAS HA’OMER (Day 1) • Even if it is generally your custom to say Hallel with a bracha in shul on Pesach night, Hallel is NOT recited after Maariv without a minyan. • After 8:22 Light candles (brachos of “lehadlik” and “shehechiyanu”)

YOM TOV 2 - FRIDAY APRIL 10 • Daven Shacharis (pesukei dezimra of Yom Tov, birchos krias shma of weekday Yom Tov, and special Shmoneh Esrei for Yom Tov (without mashiv haruach) and full hallel) at 7:00am, 8:15am , 8:45 or 9:00am. • Sof Zeman Krias Shema 9:52 • One should not recite the sections for taking out and returning the Torah. • Read the to yourself (Vayikra 22:26-44) and maftir (Bamidbar 28:16-25) and haftarah (Melachim II 23:1-9 and 23:21-25). • Daven Yom Tov Musaf (without mashiv haruach) • No Anim Zemiros when Davening alone • is to Make Early Shabbos when there is an Eruv Tavshilin • Candlelighting 6:18-7:21 • Daven Yom Tov Mincha at 7:05pm followed by Mizmor Shir and Hashem Malach and then daven Shabbos Maariv with addition of Yaaleh Veyavo in Shmoneh Esrei after 7:16pm (for those worried about “tartei desasrei” 7:16 is “Magen Avraham Plag”). • [One may also daven at the plag Mincha at 6:10 pm followed by Mizmor Shir and Hashem Malach and then daven Shabbos Maariv after 6:19 (with addition of Yaaleh Veyavo in Shmoneh Esrei). • One does say Vayechulu even alone. One does not say the Bracha of Magen Avos. • Don’t forget to count Sefiras Haomer (Day 2) and Repeat Krias Shema after 8:23pm.

SHABBOS APRIL 11 • Daven Shabbos Shacharis at 7:00, 8:15, 8:45, or 9:00 am with addition of Yaaleh Veyavo in the Shmoneh Esrei followed by half hallel with a bracha • Sof Zeman Krias Shema 9:51 • Read Shir Hashirim to yourself (This may also be done later in the day). • Read the Krias HaTorah to yourself (Shemos 33:12-34:26) and maftir (Bamidbar 28:19-25) and haftarah (Yechezkel 37:1-14). • One should not recite the sections for taking out and returning the Torah. One does not say the two paragraphs of and we do not recite Harachamim. • Daven Musaf of Shalosh Regalim with the Shabbos additions. • No Anim Zemiros when Davening Alone. • Finish Shabbos Mincha (with yaaleh veyavo) and begin Shalosh Seudos by 7:40 pm • Do not say Tzidkasecha Tzedek at Mincha. • Daven weekday Maariv after 8:24pm (no Vihi Noam after Shmoneh Esrei) making sure in Shmoneh Esrei to change to V’sen Bracha, to add Yaaleh V’Yavo and to add Ata Chonantanu. • Count Sefiras Haomer (Day 3) and make havdallah (full motzaei Shabbos havdallah)

CHOL HAMOED SUNDAY-TUESDAY APRIL 12-14 • Weekday Shacharis (6:05 [vasikin], 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00) with addition of Yaaleh Veyavo in Shmoneh Esrei followed by half hallel with a bracha (if you wear on remove them before hallel, (some wait until after krias haTorah on first day of Chol Hamoed Pesach). • Omit mizmor l’sodah, tachanun and lamnatzeach. After say the Musaf Shmoneh Esrei for Shalosh Regalim and then end with and . • Mincha/Maariv Times Plag Minyan 6:05, Regular Minyan 7:30 [Zoom] • Daven weekday Mincha (with Yaaleh Veyavo and no tachanun) followed by Maariv (with Yaaleh Veyavo). • Maariv 10:00 [Zoom] • Don’t forget to count Sefiras Haomer (again) each night after tzeis 8:35, 8:36).
