In this edition of SAA’s E-News, we’re pleased to share our exciting announcements, specials and promotions. This month, we’re proud to announce an increase to our frequency on nonstop flights to as a reflection of our commitment to provide our with more options for continuous connections than ever before. In addition to our service increase, we’re honored to share that SAA was recognized with the “Favorite in ” award by Trazee Travel’s Millennial Readers for the 5th consecutive year. We’re also highlighting an appointment of new members to our leadership team who will oversee the sales and development of our Western and Mid-Atlantic regions of the . Additionally, we included an access update for our passengers who frequent our lounge at New York John F Kennedy International (JFK) to ensure a smooth travel experience.

SAA Announces Daily Nonstop Flights Between Washington Dulles and Ghana

South African Airways will increase its frequency on nonstop flights between Washington, D.C.-Dulles International Airport and ’s Kotoka International Airport to a daily service effective September 5, 2019. SAA will be the only airline to offer daily nonstop flights between the United States and Ghana and will offer travelers convenient connections to and from over 100 cities across the U.S. and Canada through its partner, United via Washington, D.C.-Dulles. SAA’s increase of flights on the route will also serve to support the partnership with by offering seamless connections between Accra and additional destinations in West Africa including; and , ; , and , .

SAA’s flights between Washington-Dulles and Accra will be operated with both the A330-300 and the -200 aircraft. The A330-300 features 46 full-flat 180° beds with direct aisle access at every seat in Premium and 203 seats in in a spacious and comfortable cabin. The A330-200 offers 36 full-flat beds in Premium Business Class and 186 seats in Economy Class. Customers traveling in both Premium Business Class and Economy Class will enjoy an extensive menu of on-demand audio and visual entertainment options, in-seat power ports, freshly prepared meals and complimentary bar service featuring award-winning South African wines.

While SAA is increasing to daily flights on its service between Washington-Dulles and Accra, Ghana, it is temporarily suspending its twice-weekly service between Washington-Dulles and , Senegal. Customers traveling to/from Dakar should contact South African Airways’ Reservations or their professional travel consultant to be re-accommodated on alternate flights.

SAA Awarded “Favorite Airline in Africa” by Trazee Travel’s Millennial Readers for the 5th Year

South African Airways (SAA) has been named Favorite Airline in Africa for the fifth consecutive year at the annual The Trazees awards. The award was presented to South African Airways at the yearly event hosted by FXExpress Publications, which includes Global Traveler, trazeetravel.com and whereverfamily.com, during the 2019 Global Business Travel Association convention on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the Claridge House Hotel in Chicago.

Trazee Travel is a unique web publication created for travelers aged 18–35. The Trazees celebrate the best and brightest travel companies from around the world and includes airlines, , hotels, destinations and other travel providers. A ballot ran on trazeetravel.com from December 2018 through March 2019 to determine the winners. John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Lounge Update

Effective August 1, eligible customers travelling from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will now have access to the Wingtips Lounge in Terminal 4. This is due in part to the temporary closure of the Swiss lounge which is currently being refurbished. The Wingtips Lounge offers guests an upscale guest experience allowing passengers to escape the busy and unwind prior to their nonstop flight to Johannesburg. The lounge, located in Terminal 4 on the departure level after security control to the right offers our customers many complimentary amenities including a buffet, beverages, high-speed Wi-Fi, comfortable seating and more. South African Airways Appoints New Sales Directors for the West Coast and Mid-Atlantic Regions

South African Airways appointed of Mr. Umar Chaudhry as Director, Sales Development for the Western Region of the United States and Mr. Frank Fitzpatrick as Director, Sales Development for the Mid-Atlantic Region of the United States.

As Directors of Sales Development, Umar and Frank will be responsible for the airline’s business development and sales that are generated through national and regional travel management companies, retail travel agency, travel consortiums, corporate, tour operator and consolidator accounts for the Western and Mid-Atlantic Regions of the United States. Umar’s sales region of responsibility will include: Arizona, California, Colorado, , Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. Frank’s sales region of responsibility will include: The District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

Umar brings over 10 years of experience to South African Airways in sales and leadership in the airline industry. He has a vast background within the airline industry having held several positions with including; sales, marketing and various operational assignments. Prior to joining SAA, Frank was a top sales performer at having served in sales management positions on the West Coast where he was responsible for strategic business development and sales planning.
