Airline On-time Arrival Performance (Sep 2018, by VariFlight) SC Tops China’s Major Airlines in APAC OTP Chart MF Shows the Most Rapid YoY Growth Powered by VariFlight incomparable aviation database, the monthly report of Airline On-time Arrival Performance provides an overview of how global airlines perform in September, 2018. In September, Aeroflot-Russian Airlines tops the global OTP chart again. A total of 381,000 aircraft movements were handled by Chinese airlines, showing an increase of 4.6 percent year-over-year. Aeroflot-Russian Airlines takes the top spot in the global OTP chart for three consecutive months. Shandong Airlines moves into the first place for punctuality among Chinese airlines in APAC with an on-time arrival rate of 89.22 percent. Among ten major Chinese airlines, Shandong Airlines surpasses Tianjin Airlines to top the OTP list; Xiamen Airlines shows the most rapid YoY growth in OTP. Taking a look at the TOP10 domestic popular routes, SHA-CAN route demonstrates the fastest growth, improving 23.14 percent compared with that in August. Global Big Airlines SU Tops Global Big Airlines Aeroflot-Russian Airlines tops the global big airlines chart in September with an on-time arrival rate of 96.28 percent and 5.06 minutes of average arrival delay, followed by All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines. The fundamental changes in ownership also led to a number of major challenges. Existing structures had to be completely reorganised, a task which Unique (Flughafen Zürich AG) successfully mastered. We were able to extract all the airside functions and infrastructures that are essential for airport business from the operations previously controlled by SAirGroup and now under new ownership, and bring them under our own control.This means that we have eliminated all inter- connections with and dependencies on external providers in the area of airside operations. We can therefore look back on a period of extremely intensive activity. But we still have a very busy time ahead of us, partly due to the step-by-step hand-over of components associated with expansion stage 5, but also in view of the political uncertainties throughout the world and their impacts on international civil aviation, and the ongoing debate on the home front concerning the function, size and operation of Zurich Airport. -

BCD Travel Research and Intelligence What you need to know: Airline operations: Middle East April 28, 2020 As demand declines and governments around the world restrict travel, airlines are adjusting their operations, and, in some cases, suspending all services. This report summarizes what airlines in the Middle East are doing and planning. Major carriers Airline Action and plans Emirates Most passenger operations suspended from March 25. Flights continue to London and Frankfurt, with repatriation services offered to other destinations Etihad Airways All flights suspended from March 26 until May 1. Repatriation flights operated to 11 destinations. Reduced schedule to resume from May 1 until June 30 Qatar Airways Most flights continue, serving passengers transiting through Doha Turkish Airlines All international and some domestic routes suspended until May 1 Emirates resuming some flights after suspending most passenger operations Emirates suspended most passenger operations from March 25, with no date for their resumption.1 It had been trying to maintain these flights as long as possible, to help travelers return home. But increasing travel restrictions – including the March 19 suspension of all entry visas to the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) – forced it to curtail its operations substantially. Emirates will continue to operate a small number of passenger flights to a limited number of countries, as long as their borders stay open and demand remains. The airline will resume suspended services once countries reopen their borders and travel confidence returns. Emirates is already looking forward to a gradual resumption of passenger services as travel and operational restrictions are lifted. It received approval to resume services to Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Paris and Zurich from April 6.2 It currently offers four flights per week to Heathrow and three to Frankfurt. -

Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA) The Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA), is an organisation which was formed in 1970 to represent the mutual interests of its Members. Membership is open to all airlines based in countries south of the equator, including the Indian Ocean Islands. There are currently 20 Airline Members. In addition, Associate Membership is open to airline partner organisations. There are currently 37 Associate Members, including infrastructure service providers, several oil companies, major aircraft manufacturers, engine manufacturers, ground handling companies, service providers, other industry associations and partners. AASA is the representative airline organisation within Southern Africa working together with the leaders of the aviation industry and senior public and government officials on matters of policy, legislation, regulation, planning, operational efficiency, safety, security and finance, affecting the overall profitability of the airlines and their continued sustainability. AASA also leads and coordinates the airline industry position on airport, airspace and civil aviation issues, as well as consumer legislation, environmental and tourism matters, and provides media response to important industry issues. AASA’s responsibility includes the representation of SADC-based airlines on the SADC Civil Aviation Committee as the Airline Consultative Member. AASA is a regular participant and contributor to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) initiatives in the region. With AASA’s focus concentrated on any issue impacting the airline business, the regular liaison and good working relationship with its Members and partners is highly valued. -

STMT Trisakti. corresponding author: [email protected] Abstract: This research is exploring the change of domestic air travel market demand in Indonesia prior and post deregulation. Changes on policies in Indonesian aviation were contributed to the present day market. This historical overview will examine the ‘oligopoly policy’ with only five airlines and the deregulation process that began in 1999. The research then analyses the demand for domestic air travel. Exponential Moving Average Growth were using to analysing data to forecasting the number of passenger from year 2007 to 2015 in yearly basis. Demand is then analysed on three separate airline routes in Indonesia they are Jakarta-Medan, Jakarta-Surabaya, and Jakarta-Pontianak. Introduction Deregulation in Indonesia start when governments remove restrictions on airlines business Indonesia to encourage the efficient, competitive and consumer oriented marketplace in Indonesian airline industry (Williams, 1993). Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications Anwar Suprijadi said the decision to deregulate was taken in a bid to promote fair competition in domestic airline services, (“Govt insists on licensing more airlines,” 1999). And resulting numbers of new Indonesian airlines emerged predominantly mostly in the cut-fare sector including Lion Air; Indonesia’s Air Asia, former Adam Air, former Batavia Air and Sriwijaya Air, radically changing the nature of the airline business in Indonesia with present of low cost carrier. -

In the same time, however, it negatively impacts the aviation business itself, making many airline companies stop their operation and then go to bankruptcy. The aim of this research is to analyze the factors causing bankruptcy to some national airline companies in Indonesia after the aviation deregulation in the periods of 2001-2010 and 2011-2015. It is an exploratory research with a qualitative descriptive approach emphasizing on evaluating the factors causing bankruptcy to a number of domestic airlines in Indonesia. The method of data collection is an interview with the format of focus group discussion (FGD), while the data analysis uses factor analysis method. The results of this research show that there are two main factors that cause bankruptcy to a number of domestic airlines in Indonesia. They are both internal and external factors of the companies. INTRODUCTION Since the implementation of the national aviation deregulation policy in 2000, the growth of aviation business in Indonesia increases rapidly.
