eros = to wall in, to protect (treasure) Matt 19:5-6 Adam was divided into two & the 2 came together to be one (treasure is the concept though the word eros does not appear in the NT, the concept is in the bible). The makers of Greek gods turned this into a demeaned sensual idea (Aphrodite). storge = this is belonging love. This is the familiarity of being at home with someone. Romans 12:10 “devoted to one another”.
phileo = this is brotherly love/family love. The city of “brotherly love” is Philadelphia.
Agape = this is unconditional love. John 3:16 “God so loved the world that he gave His only Son…” This love is universal (extends to every person). This is the most commonly used word for love int the bible.
