City of Walnut Creek After School Sports Program Foothill Middle School & Walnut Creek Intermediate 2019-2020 School Year Timeline

The City of Walnut Creek Recreation Department offers an after school sports program for all students enrolled at Foothill Middle School and Walnut Creek Intermediate. This program allows students an opportunity to acquire and practice new skills, make new friends, learn and model good sportsmanship, and to compete. Boys//Coed and Intramural/Competitive programs are offered. *Students must be enrolled at WCI or Foothill to be eligible for competitive programs. Intramural and competitive training programs are available at WCI for Tice Creek students.

No formal games 4:30-6 will be played. Fee $250

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS TIMELINE

General Program Information

The City of Walnut Creek After School Sports Program is offered through the City of Walnut Creek Recreation Department. The program is designed to provide opportunities for boys and girls to participate in sports while enrolled as a student at either Foothill Middle School or Walnut Creek Intermediate.

Intramural Program: • 6th , 7 th , and 8 th grade • 2-3 days each week for 6 weeks • No tryouts, all skill levels are welcome, equal participation • Focuses on fun, skill building, teamwork, sportsmanship • Practices held at respective school • Games held at both Foothill and WCI • Parent carpools are only source of transportation

Competitive Team Program: • 7th and 8 th grade only for volleyball and basketball (6 th grade allowed to try out for golf) • Only one team for each grade (10-14 per team) • Advanced skills taught, developed, with challenging practices • Playing time is not guaranteed just by making the team (refer to handbook) • Home and away games • Parent carpools are only source of transportation

Student Eligibility Students must be enrolled as a student of Foothill Middle School or Walnut Creek Intermediate and be enrolled in at least seven periods.

Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and have no “F” grades. The date from which a student is ineligible is five (5) days following the close of the grading period. An ineligible student shall not be eligible during the next quarter.

A student suspended more than one day per quarter shall be ineligible for two (2) weeks. Suspended students are ineligible to play or practice on the day(s) of the suspension.
