Chapter 6 – Group and Team Performance 90 CHAPTER 6 – Group and Team Performance OBJECTIVES The major purpose of this chapter on group process and effectiveness is to introduce the student to ways to think about interacting groups so that they will become more effective members and leaders of them. Every student has had some experience with both social and task groups that they can call on as they study this topic. Our first objective in this chapter is to focus on how central these groups are to our lives. We also attempt to impress on the students that they will likely spend large proportions of their work hours in small group settings, because modern management appears to be making increasing use of teams or other small groups to solve problems, make decisions, and execute tasks. The next objective is to help student understand the many types of groups they may be involved with and how groups vary by purpose and organization. Another objective is to introduce students to a basic model of group effectiveness that includes influences from the environment within which the group operates. Environmental influences can have a critical impact on group effectiveness and the different types of influences are considered. At this point the chapter changes its focus to give more emphasis to internal group dynamics by covering such topics as cooperation and competition. Here, one objective is to introduce students to group development and the process by which groups become (or fail to become) mature. Another objective is to introduce the role of norms in influencing group member behavior. -

Violations Edition: 27 February 2020 Page 2 Foreword The IHF Rules of the Game for Wheelchair Handball basically follow the IHF Rules of the Game for Indoor Handball. No special rules shall apply despite having mixed teams. However, due to the different capabilities of players, the amendments listed below shall be implemented and will be used for the upcoming IHF Wheelchair Handball events. Note: In some countries, competitions are organised for only 4 players (including goalkeeper) on the field. The international rules of this variation are currently being prepared. Edition: 27 February 2020 Page 3 ARTICLE 1 I. Basics 1.1. The Game Wheelchair handball is played by two teams of six players including one goalkeeper per team. The aim of each team is to score goals and to prevent the other team from scoring. Wheelchair handball shall be based on the spirit of Fair Play, dedicated for players with physical impairments. 1.2. The Team A team delegation consists of a maximum of 20 persons including a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 16 players. A minimum of three female players shall be part of the team. -

The sample of the current study consists of athletes from women’s national handball teams (n=32, age=17.8±1.1 years, body height 166.6±4.5 cm, body mass 65.0±5.4 kg) and volleyball (n=16, age=18.0±1.4 years, body height 176.5±5.7 cm, body mass 68.1±7.4 kg). The measurements included five skin folds thicknesses (biceps, triceps, subscapular, suprailiac and calf), three circumferences [calf and biceps girth (relaxed and tensed)] end two widths (femur, humerus). In the initial somatometric parameters, the athletes exhibit higher performance triceps (p<0.001), subscapular (p<0.001) skinfold (mm) and biceps girth (relaxed) (cm) while volleyball players exhibit body height (cm) (p<0.05) and humeral diameter (cm) (p<0.05). In the secondary parameters, handball players express statistically significant body mass indices (kg/m²) (p<0.05), body fat (%) (p<0.002), sum of 5 skinfold (mm) (p<0.001), while volleyball players express fat free mass (kg) (p<0.001). -

Shared Leadership Underpinning of the MLCF A key product from the Enhancing Engagement in Medical Leadership project has been the development of a Medical Leadership Competency Framework (MLCF). This document defines the skills and competences needed by doctors to engage effectively in the planning, provision and improvement of health care services. It applies to all doctors and is intended to be acquired across the medical career at each appropriate level (Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Continuing Practice). It is therefore not aimed at specific, positional leaders but is seen as a set of competences that should be fully integrated into the medical role and not a separate function. The philosophical leadership model that underpins this approach is that of shared leadership, a more modern conception of leadership that departs from traditional charismatic or hierarchical models. In working with the MLCF it is useful to understand the shared leadership approach and this paper is an attempt to provide a simple description and guide to the shared leadership model, and to answer some of the questions about shared leadership that have been asked during the development of the MLCF: • What is shared leadership? • How does shared leadership underpin the MLCF? • How does shared leadership relate to positional leadership? • Where is the evidence that shared leadership works and what can we learn from other settings? • What evidence is there from health care and how do we apply shared leadership in a clinical setting? • What do the critics of shared leadership say? SITTING VOLLEYBALL NATIONAL TEAMS 2020-2021 ATHLETE SELECTION PROCEDURES (Men and Women) ELIGIBILITY FOR SITTING VOLLEYBALL NATIONAL TEAM In order to be eligible for selection to a National Team, all athletes must have a valid Canadian Passport as validation of Canadian Citizenship. Athletes must have a physical impairment that meets the classification standards for sitting volleyball as established by World ParaVolley (WPV). WPV is the international governing body for sitting volleyball. Athletes must meet the minimum eligibility requirements to participate in the Paralympic Games as set by the IPC, including having a confirmed classification status and be in good standing with WPV. Athletes must attend the Selection Camp* in order to be considered for selection to the National Team. An athlete who cannot attend the Selection Camp due to injury may be recommended for selection if he/she had previously been involved in the National Team. The athlete must receive the approval of the coaching staff and have written proof of medical reason for exclusion from the selection camp. Athletes must submit application for approval with medical note to the Para HP Manager or the High Performance Director - Sitting Volleyball prior to the Selection Camp. If an athlete’s injury does not prevent travel, it is expected that the athlete still attends selection camp and participates team off-court sessions. *With current COVID-19 restrictions, athletes will attend selection camp once it is safe to do so, all evaluations will be based on previous performance at camps and competitions SELECTION CRITERIA – NATIONAL TEAM MEMBER Athletes will be selected to a National Team program and rated within Volleyball Canada’s Gold Medal Profile (GMP) for Sitting Volleyball. -

Approval of Agenda The agenda has been issued to all TAFISA Members within the period prescribed by the TAFISA statutes, and has also been posted on the TAFISA website, along with any revisions. There were no comments or suggested changes to the agenda but one motion received from World Jiu Jitsu Confederation (WJJC) and World Judo Federation (WJF) (see item 16 of agenda) received by the TAFISA office that according to the statutes have to be sent in written form to the Secretary General three months before the General Assembly. Recommended Decision The General Assembly approves the agenda presented. 3. Minute of Silence The TAFISA Board of Directors requests a minute of silence to honour those close to TAFISA who have passed during the previous two years, namely Mr Jezdimir Jezda Marsenic, Secretary General of Association Sport for All Serbia.
