The remaining athletic district alignments will be released no later than March 16, 2020, with the academic alignments to follow. An organizing chair school list is also enclosed. The organizing school is responsible for organizing the initial district executive committee meeting and notifying the UIL office of the name and the school of the permanent chairperson for each sport. This ensures that district executive committee information is sent to the correct person. Schools may discuss scheduling possible games beginning on February 3rd, but cannot actually contract until February 26th. District schedules cannot be finalized and official until the alignment is finished. The District Assignment Appeals Committee will hear final appeals on February 25, 2020. District schedules cannot be officially finalized until February 26, 2020. Appeals Information A member school has two opportunities to appeal its district assignment. The first level of appeal involves the local district executive committees (DECs). Schools wishing to change districts may do so by getting a majority vote from both the DEC to which they have been assigned and the DEC to which they wish to be assigned. The school must complete the Reclassification and Realignment Appeal Form and submit it to each DEC for consideration. If a majority vote is achieved from both DECs, both district chairs must notify the UIL acknowledging the majority vote by emailing [email protected]. The school appealing shall also email the completed form to [email protected]. Once these steps have been completed, UIL will notify the appealing school and both district chairs that the approval has been received and the change has been made to the district assignment. The second level of appeal, only available to schools who sought and did not receive the first level appeal, involves the UIL District Assignment Appeals Committee (DAAC). The Chair of the UIL Legislative Council shall appoint the UIL DAAC members. A participant school may request an appeal of the district assignment, after unsuccessfully attempting to acquire the first level appeal, by filing its request and a supporting statement with the UIL DAAC and informing, in writing, the superintendent and principal of the schools in the conference and district to which it was assigned and notifying the superintendent and principal of the schools in the conference and district to which it wishes to be assigned. Notification must go to all schools that could be affected by the change. This appeal must be made by February 14, 2020 by submitting the completed form to [email protected]. The appeals hearing is scheduled for February 25, 2020. 3 Please note the following rules: Football: Section 1250 (i) (1) & (2) of the Constitution and Contest Rules states: (i) SITE AND DAY OF GAME. (1) Non-district Games. Mutual agreement determines site and day of game. (2) District Games. District schedules, unless unanimously agreeable otherwise, shall be made by a draw for a two year period. Home team may designate the day of the game. Exception: When a school district has more than one home game per week and only one stadium, the day of the game shall be determined by a draw unless mutually agreeable otherwise. Starting times shall be set by the district executive committee, unless mutually agreeable otherwise. Other Sports: Section 1203 (d) of the Constitution and Contest Rules states: (d) SCHEDULING. The district executive committee shall arrange a schedule to determine district representatives prior to the deadline specified in the Official League Calendar. Important Dates: February 3-14, 2020 Schools wishing to change districts may do so through the first level appeal process described above. February 14, 2020 The deadline for a participant school to request an appeal of their district assignment, after unsuccessfully attempting to acquire the appeal through the first level appeal process, to the UIL office. February 25, 2020 The UIL District Assignment Appeals Committee hearing will be held February 25, 2020, beginning at 9:00 am. When all appeals are completed, the District Assignment Appeals Committee shall approve the assignments to districts. Until this approval, contracts for contests by participant schools are not effective. February 26, 2020 First day for District Executive Committees to finalize district schedules. 2018 4th International Conference on Innovative Development of E-commerce and Logistics (ICIDEL 2018) Historical Study on the Relation between Ancient Chinese Cuju and Modern Football Xiaoxue Liu1, Yanfen Zhang2, and Xuezhi Ma3 1Department of Physical Education, China University of Geosciences, Xueyuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing, P. R. China 2Department of Life Sciences; Xinxiang University, Xinxiang Henan Province, Eastern Section of Hua Lan Road, Hongqi District, Xinxiang City, Henan, China 3Beijing Sport University Wushu School, Information Road, Haidian District, Beijing, China [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Keywords: Ancient Chinese Cuju, Modern Football, Relationship, Development, The Same Origin Abstract: This paper studies on the origin and development of Chinese Cuju through document retrieval. Born in the period of Dongyi civilization, Chinese Cuju began to take shape during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period, and gradually flourished during the Qin, Han, Tang and Song dynasties. Through the economic and cultural exchange between China and the West in the past ages, Cuju was introduced into Europe when Mongol expedited westward in Yuan Dynasty. Finally, it has become the modern football, which originated from ancient Chinese Cuju and developed from European competition rules and now is widely accepted and popular in the world. 1. The Cultural Background of the Study On July 15th, 2004, Mr. Blatter, the president of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) officially announced in the 3rd session of Soccerex Fair, that football originated in Zibo, the capital of Qi State during the Spring and Autumn Period of ancient China. Cuju (ancient football game) began in China, while modern football (eleven -player game) originated in England.

  • Sports and Games in the Middle Ages
Sports and Games in the Middle Ages Medieval sport was an exciting spectator event and, much like today, it drew large crowds. Most sports were enjoyed on Sundays and on feast days when folk did not have to work and were free to pursue leisure activities. Many of the popular sports played in the Middle Ages are the predecessors of modern sports. Football One early form of football, first described in a twelfth- century account of London, was a combination of football and rugby and involved carrying the ball into the goal. Another, ‘camp-ball’, was played in a large open field, sometimes several miles long, and by an unlimited number of players. Neighbouring villages might take each other on and riots could ensue. Handball, golf and hockey evolved from this game. At this time balls were made of leather and stuffed with either cloth or straw; or pig bladders filled with dried peas were used. Early forms of football have been played since medieval times. Bowling Bowling was greatly enjoyed in medieval times. There were various forms of the game. Some were like skittles whilst others were similar to boules or petanque. It is thought that marbles was a mini form of bowls developed especially for children. Other Sports Caich was a game resembling modern-day racquetball. Players would bounce a ball against a wall using a pole or bat. However, as caich required a specialized ball it was only played in urban settings by people of at least moderate economic standing. Ice skating was a popular winter pastime.

  • ADULT SPORTS FAQ's 1. What Are the Age Requirements for Participation in Adult Sports Programs?
ADULT SPORTS FAQ’s 1. What are the age requirements for participation in Adult Sports programs? Volleyball participants must be at least 16 years of age during the season in order to be eligible. Basketball, Dodgeball, Flag-Football, and Softball participants must be at least 18 years of age during the season in order to be eligible. The age difference in adult sports programs is due to the potential level of physical contact during league play. 2. Are uniforms required in team sports participation? Team uniforms are not required for our volleyball or softball leagues. Basketball, Dodgeball, and Flag-Football teams, however, must wear same color shirts with permanent numbers placed on the back. All teams provide their own equipment. Game balls are provided only in the softball program. 3. Why are the fees so high for the adult leagues? League fees are used to pay for scorekeepers, staffing, facility maintenance and equipment. Awards are also given to the top two teams in each division. Compared to other communities, our fees are still considerably affordable. YOUTH SPORTS FAQ’s 1. What are the age requirements for participation in Youth Sports programs? Children learn at various stages and must learn all the skills necessary before advancing to a higher level. It is recommended that participants sign up according to the grade or age limit assigned to a particular program. The Instructor may then recommend a participant to be moved to a more advanced level if the participant is physically and cognitively ready. 2. My child will meet the proper age limit in a couple of months.

  • Wilson Ball Cleaning Recommendations
What chemicals can clean our game balls without altering performance? Our primary recommendation is to follow CDC, state and local guidelines for health and safety. The following widely accepted definitions are relevant to composite leather, PU leather, and leather game ball care (CDC reference): There are several different methods for sanitizing and disinfecting composite leather, PU leather, and leather game product. Each customer should utilize the method that fits their health and safety protocols and the playing environment and timing needs. Simple Game Ball Cleaning Method To clean the ball, players may wish to use dish soap and water. While this practice may be likened to hand washing, note that all soap residue must be rinsed away and that drying time on each ball product may vary. An example cleaning regimen with soap and water includes: 1. Add 1 tablespoon of mild dish soap into a 1-gallon container. 2. Fill bucket with warm water, until a soapy mixture is formed. 3. Wet a first towel with the solution, wring out excess water, and gently wipe down entire product surface for at least 30 seconds. 4. Re-wet towel with plain warm water, wring out excess water, and wipe off excess soap from ball surface. 5. Rub a second, dry towel on the surface to wipe and dry off. 6. Let product air out overnight. Quick Turn Leather Game Ball Cleaning Method To clean the ball with faster turnaround times, we reference the following recommendations. The CDC released a list (referred to as ‘List N’) of effective disinfectants for disabling SARS-CoV-2 (i.e., the virus that causes Covid-19 disease) on hard, nonporous surfaces.
