ACADEMY CURRICULUM PRESENTATION PURPOSE OF THE CURRICULUM
This course is designed to provide prospective athletic coaches with knowledge and skill introduction regarding the game of basketball. Emphasis is placed on history of basketball, organizational/management skills, coach/player relations, basketball rules/ terminology, fundamental skills, team offense/defense, situational strategies, scouting, conditioning of players, and court maintenance. Non-Government basketball school support program is focused on funding basketball schools that are not permanently supported by Governmental institutions and have more than 400 registered players. This requirement is met by four official basketball schools in Lithuania: - Š.Marčiulionis basketball academy (more than 900 registered players) ,
- A.Sabonis basketball school (more than 800 registered players),
- Tornado Kaunas basketball school (more than 450 registered players)
- Perkunas Kaunas Basketball school (more than 400 registered players)
Premiums for Champions
For every Gold medal winner – 340 EUR per player
For every Silver medal winner – 270 EUR per player
For every Bronze medal winner – 180 EUR per player
SYSTEM OF COMPENSATIONS
Main point of the rule:
...the first club that makes the registration of a player after he/she attains one’s majority (18 years old) under the request of former basketball school / club has to pay compensation to the basketball school / club where the player has been practicing and playing for:
Ist division: 7300 LTL (2100 EUR)
IInd division: 3500 LTL (1000 EUR)
...50 – 70 % of the amount should be payed to the coach of the player.

LBF awards “For contribution of the basketball development in Lithuania” Merchandising programme “I am a supporter of basketball” MONTHLY MAGAZINE GIRLS BASKETBALL CENTRES PROJECT PRESENTATION About the project • MARIJAMPOLE GIRLS’ BASKETBALL CENTRE is intended for development of elite-level young women- basketball players. Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LBF) in partnership with Marijampole Municipality Sports Committee presents the MGBC program which brings over the top athletes and coaches from around the province. The MGBC serves as one of the pathways for athletes and coaches who wish to be involved at the national and international level. WHAT IS PERFORMANCE PROGRAM OF MGBC? • The MGBC Program is a model for players to master individual offensive and team fundamentals and also to learn sport science aspects necessary to become a high level player. At the same time the girls will receive secondary education for further studies in Universities. Our MGBC program is one of the key components of Lithuanian Basketball Federation long-lasting basketball development strategy. The MGBC program has been established to meet a need of a more systematic, thorough and unified national approach to identifying and developing outstanding girls- basketball players in every prov ince and territory in Lithuania.
Objectives of the Project
• To select the most promising girls-basketball players from Lithuania’s Eastern-West region.
• To arrange the best possible conditions for players’ education, basketball training and living in Marijampole city.
• To implement the long-lasting professional women’s basketball development program.
• To monitor the sports program while performing multitime testing of basketball skills and making corrections in the training process.
• To employ experienced and high qualified basketball coaches and staff.
Why Marijampole city?
• Marijampole (pop. 47.7 thousand) is the capital city of Suvalkija (Suduva), the Uznemune ethnic region of Lithuania. The city is situated on the Sesupe River. It originates from the village of Pasesupis, first mentioned in the historical records back in 1667. Main reasons for establishing the Regional Girls’ Basketball Center in Marijampole:
• Well developed city’s sports infrostructure: - good basketball gym, new gym in process of building.
- newly constructed in-door soccer stadium.
- out-door soccer stadium.
Main reasons for establishing the Regional Girls’ Basketball Center in Marijampole:
• Strong Men’s and Women’s professional basketball programs: • - Men’s basketball team “Suduva” is a member of Lithuanian Basketball League (Highest division), it competes in Baltic Basketball League. - Women’s basketball team “Arvi” is a member of Lithuanian Women’s Basketball League (Highest division), it competes in Baltic and European Leagues.
• Support of Marijampole Muni cipality Sports Committee: - Significant contribution from local sports authorities to endowment system of MGBC. - Good conditions to receive secondary education. - Good living conditions in Sports dormitory of Marijampole Sports School.
• Long basketball tradition in Marijampole city: • - Many National team basketball players of different age have been trained in Marijampole: Darius Songaila, Aurimas Kieza, Egle Sulciute etc.

- The Center employs experienced coaches who have reached high results in women’s basketball. - Basketball practices take place twice a day. - Constant testing of physical and technical abilities and training process correction based on testing results. - Optimized and individualized sport training. Extra information
Sports Science: MGBC players will be provided with a complete physiological and psychological support network including physical testing, fitness and strength training programs, training and competition analysis, mental skill training, nutrition, recovery/ regeneration services and other performance enhancement support.
Medical: Players will have access to Marijampole Sports Health Centre and Medical Centre for health related matters. Sports medicine, physiotherapy and other paramedical services will be provided by local medical centre. Athletes will have access to Marijampole Medicine Clinics.
Program: This program will be coordinated by Lithuanian Basketball Federation with support from local authorities of Marijampole city to provide each athlete with high quality and supportive living environment while attending MGBC.
