“Supersite Product selection & download” Service Level Agreement

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. Service Description / Abstract The GEO Geohazards “Supersite Product selection & download” service provides, to registered ESA EO-SSO users, a Catalogue for selection and download of data for the study of natural hazards in geologically active regions, including information from Synthetic Aperture (SAR). The selection of products requires spatial and temporal coverage definition. It is possible to download SAR products belonging to the following datasets: ASA_IM__0P, ER02_SAR_RAW_0P, ER02_SAR_IM__0P, ER01_SAR_RAW_0P, ER01_SAR_IM__0P, ASA_WS__0P, ER02_SAR_IMS_1P, ER01_SAR_IMS_1P, ER02_SAR_IMP_1P , ER01_SAR_IMP_1P, ASA_IMS_1P. The service interfaces with the GEO Geohazards Supersite (http://eo-virtual- archive4.esa.int) archive. The products exposed are systematically uploaded by the GEO Supersite partners and are part of overall GEO Supersites initiative (http://supersites.earthobservations.org).

1.2. Keywords ASAR, product, selection, download

1.3. Observation Help Desk For questions, problems, complaints, special requests, comments or recommendations about the service, users can contact the: Earth Observation Help Desk E-mail: [email protected] Phone: +39 06 94180777 The help desk service is available during working hours of the ESRIN working days. The help desk will answer to the customer within 5 working days from receipt of request. 1.4. Definitions and Acronyms • ENVISAT o ENVIronmental SATellite • ERS o European satellite • SAR o Synthetic Aperture Radar • ASAR o Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar • HTTPS o Secure Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol • N1 o ENVISAT N1 data format • ICD o Interface Control Document • AOI o Area Of Interest • Service Support Environment (SSE) o The ESA provided environment supporting provision of services published as Web Services.

2. SERVICE CHARACTERISTICS

2.1. Service Usage The search of products is possible by selecting an Area Of Interest in the interface Web Map Viewer (spatial coverage) and a time interval using date picker controls (temporal coverage). It is also possible to search for a given product using the number. Note that the upper (Start Date) and lower (End Date) limit of the time search interval are inclusive. After the configuration of the search AOI, Start Date and End Date, you can press the “Query” button to get the list of the products. If the product is available for download, an “HTTPS” link will appear at the right of the product line (“Resources” table). EO-SSO registration is mandatory to perform data download. EO-SSO registration is available at http://eosupport.eo.esa.int/sso/registration.php The number of data products which can be downloaded is limited to 4 concurrent files per IP address. The product formats are:  CEOS  ESA WILMA  ENVISAT N1 ENVISAT N1 format can be read using ESA BEAM (http://www.brockmann- consult.de/cms/web/beam/) software, CEOS and WILMA can be read using the commercial ENVI software package (http://www.exelisvis.com/) 2.2. Service Quality ESA is not responsible for the data catalogue availability or access, which is provided via best effort by the Geohazard Supersite (http://eo-virtual- archive4.esa.int) and Geohazard Community (http://www.geohazcop.org/).

2.3. Service Availability The service is normally continuously available except when network or servers maintenance activities are being performed or due to circumstances beyond ESA ESRIN control. The service is only monitored during ESA ESRIN working days. When the service fails during non-working hours, it will be restarted in the next monitoring activity. Service failures in data search or download can be due to Geohazard Supersite (http://eo-virtual-archive4.esa.int) un-availability, which is beyond ESA control.

2.4. Service Timing Usual query to the service catalogue takes from 1 to 10 seconds to complete. It shall be noted that in case of large time interval and AOI, the query can take up to one minute.

2.5. Service Limitations The service is intended for all the ESA registered users. Registration is needed for both the catalogue search page (SSE registration) and for the data download (EO-SSO registration). SSE registration is possible from the SSE registration page at (http://services.eoportal.org/), while UM-SSO registration is possible from the EO Support registration page ( http://eosupport.eo.esa.int/sso/registration.php). There are no other limitations for this service, except for the Terms and Conditions below.

2.6. Service Price The service is free of charge for authorised ESA users.

3. TERMS AND CONDITIONS

3.1. Output Products The products downloaded shall be used only within the Cat-1 use Terms and Conditions signed for being authorised to access ESA products.

3.2. Warranty ESA doesn’t provide any warranty for this service. ESA shall not be deemed liable in respect of a defective Output Product. All other conditions, warranties of any kind, written, oral, statutory, expressed or implied by statute or common law with respect to any output product including but not limited to the implied warranty of satisfactory quality, merchantability and fitness for purpose are hereby excluded. 3.3. Termination ESA reserves the right to terminate the service at any time without prior notification. If the user defaults in or commits any breach of any of his obligations, ESA shall have the right forthwith to terminate the provision of the service.

3.4. Disclaimer ESA does not assume any liability deemed to have been caused directly or indirectly by any content of the SSE or Geohazard Web site or by this service. ESA shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations arising from circumstances outside their control. With respect to documents or data provided via SSE, neither ESA nor any of its employees, make any warranty, explicit or implied, including the warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, or assume any legal liability or responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information, Output Product, or process disclosed, or represent that its use would not infringe privately held rights.

Annex I. SERVICE ELEMENTS The service makes use of a single web service for both accessing the catalogue and downloading a product. It is the SSE front-end to the Geohazard Supersite storage system. It is possible to provide a service of access to SAR products for service providers as a chainable component. For further information please contact Earth Observation Help Desk (see section 1.3).
