If you can, we strongly advise walking or cycling into Tadcaster town centre to watch the race or take part in the day.

The following roads will be closed in Tadcaster town centre. There will also be parking restrictions on streets along the route to ensure the riders can pass safely. Please look out for the advanced warning signs. Britannia Car Park closed from 6.30pm on Friday 20 September. Kirkgate and Westgate - closed from 7am until 7pm to allow the community activities to take place. The start area along Bridge Street (from the Kirkgate junction) and Commercial Street (to the Lane junction) will be closed from 8am to 6pm. The bus station is closed from 6am to 6pm. See below for details on bus timetables. Wighill Lane closed from 11.30am to 3.30pm.

Friday 27 September All areas affected There will be rolling road closures, similar to those used for the races, along the route during the day. We expect these to be around 45 minutes each time. Please plan ahead and expect some delays. BUS SERVICES. On Saturday 21 September, there'll be diversions and changes to bus timetables for services to and from Tadcaster throughout the day. We also expect some changes for buses serving Cawood too. Check bus operator websites for full details: arrivabus.co.uk/yorkshire yorkbus.co.uk (incl. Coastliner services) cityzap.co.uk

ACCESS TO SHOPS AND SERVICES. Saturday 21 September Tadcaster - the town centre will be much busier than usual. Please plan ahead, especially if you have an appointment booked or need to collect medicine from a pharmacy, for example.

Please bear in mind the road closures affecting North Duffield, the A19, Riccall, Cawood and Tadcaster. The length of the road closures for the Para Cycling race is longer than for other bike races. That's because the riders are more dispersed along the route. Make sure you look out for official confirmation that the road has re-opened. Friday 27 September With rolling road closures on the race route we expect minimal disruption, but please plan ahead particularly if you have a medical appointment or need to collect medicines. The second race of the day passes through our district at the end of the school day. Please check with your school about finishing times. BUSINESS DELIVERIES. Saturday 21 September The start line for the Tadcaster stage - at around 2pm - will be to the east of the bridge, just outside Britannia car park. Team buses will be parked in the Sainsbury's car park. You can watch the athletes warm up. There'll also be a community cycling festival taking place in Kirkgate and Westgate with plenty of opportunities to watch the races, try out some of the cycles used and enjoy food and drink from local businesses. This is being run by the Tadcaster Event Management Project Team (www.tadcasterevents.com). Live action of the race will also be shown on a large screen and we anticipate local radio will be broadcasting live from the event. At Manor Farm, a skate park will be set up with BMX demonstrations and other activities taking place. Accessible Viewing You can book a place in the dedicated Accessible Viewing Area for the event in Tadcaster on 21 September. This will be near the bus station, opposite the start line. There will be a maximum of 30 spaces available - 20 wheelchair spaces and 10 seated spaces, plus 50 accessible car parking spaces available in Central Car Park. All accessible viewing and parking spaces must be pre-booked. To book your viewing and/or parking space, please email the Selby District Disability Forum: [email protected], by 5pm Friday 13 September at the latest.

Accessible toilets can be found in Central Car Park, in Sainsbury’s and also in Sainsbury’s Car Park, by the race team parking.

Elsewhere we expect villages along the route to be welcoming riders as they pass through. This is a unique experience for them. The Para Cycling event has never been done point-to-point before (the races usually run in a loop), so this is the first time riders will have competed in this way. Please make it one to remember! Friday 27 September You can watch the races from anywhere along the route - see above for race times. DECORATE AND CELEBRATE!

This is your chance to make Tadcaster and our villages shine! Let's see your painted bikes, flags, knitting and bunting… whatever captures the true spirit of these races and our district. The official logo of the event includes rainbow colours, so any colour goes! If you want to see more examples of the Yorkshire 2019 brand, search online for 'Yorkshire 2019'.
