HOBART AND WILLIAM SMITH COLLEGES Center for (CGE) LAMPETER, WALES Global Education LAMPETER, WALES

About Lampeter Lampeter is a small, historic market town set at the foothills of the in the county of . With the flowing around the outskirts of the town and a panorama of rugged hills, Lampeter is not your typical university town. The Uni- versity campus is situated in the middle of town, with all shops and amenities located within an easy walk of the campus. The town of Lampeter offers a variety of unusual, independent shops, together with student-friendly cafes and pubs that provide everything you need on a day-to-day basis.

The town of Lampeter is a center for organic food. A wide selection of organic fruits, vegetables, cheeses, breads, and other quality foodstuffs are sold in the town and served in local restaurants. Lampeter is also at the forefront of the Transition Town movement in Wales, a community venture that looks for sustainable solutions to the challenges of peak oil and climate change. The Program Hobart and William Smith Colleges offer students the chance to study in Wales through its affiliation with University of Wales Trinity St. David. The Lampeter campus has approxi- mately 800 students enrolled, many from southern Wales but also from other regions of Britain, Western Europe and around the world. Lampeter is known for the close-knit relationship between the university community and the local town. HWS students will have the opportunity to live and take classes alongside Welsh and international students. Students who also wish to undertake voluntary service (non-credit bearing) may do so as part of their study abroad experience.
