Design for the Environment Textiles
The Design for the Environment protocol is a fundamental part of the Herman Miller product development process. Herman Miller Textiles are evaluated and optimized for human and environmental impacts.
Textiles described in this document meet the criteria for the following building standards: International Living Building (ILBC) Red List, WELL Building Standard Version 1, and Healthier Hospitals 2.0.
International Living Building™ Red List Healthier Hospitals 2.0 Herman Miller makes every reasonable effort to ensure that the data Textiles described herein meets the Healthy Interiors goal of the is accurate and current. The information Presented as Red List Free Safer Chemicals Challenge according to the manufacturer. Practice indicates that the chemical is not Present in the product above 100ppm. Greenhealth does not verify manufacturer information: Full Red List and CAS# can be found here. Fundamental Material Safety: • PFCs: Must not use Stain-repellent treatments that contain • No more than 100ppm of added lead perfluorinated compounds. • PVC: Product contains less than 1% of polyVinyl chloride (PVC) by Toxic Material Reduction: weight, excluding electrical components. • No PFC at levels equal to or greater than 100ppm in components • Antimicrobials: Must not contain triclosan, triclocarban, and, nano- • Halogenated flame retardants are limited in components to 0.01% silver, nano-copper, and nano-zinc. (100ppm) to the extent allowable by local code. • Phthalate (Plasticizers) limited in components to 0.01% (100ppm) – DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, DNOP [often found in polyVinyl chloride (PVC)] • Urea-formaldehyde are limited in components to 100ppm
